There is a new club that has just requested affiliation today.
Google the Culbin Model Club. They now have a modelf flying section.

I have been looking at organising a holiday involving visiting BMFA Buckminster to fly for a while now, but the schedule https://nationalcentre.bmfa.org/calendar/site-status indicates it is really heavily booked so it is very rare to be able to go for 4 or 5 consecutive days when the main runway is available and when day tickets are available. Maybe I am reading the calendar wrongly, but it looks as though the centre is really busy (which is good) but means it is pretty inflexible for those coming from a distance who want to stay and fly on several consecutive days. I'm hoping somebody will tell me that it is easier than it looks! Thanks.
Much easier than it looks. If you were to go Monday to Friday you would be able to fly most days. Contact Manny to choose the best possible dates.

I just want to be able to turn up and fly.
Thats pretty much what we all want to do and regularly do it at club sites across the country.

Have all required qualifications and bmfa insurance. It's not illegal in public spaces to fly. Just looking for where..was hoping someone may be using an area and have an idea. Clubs seem more restrictive in my opinion..usually the result of committes and people with nothing better to do than make more and more ridiculous rules.
Most clubs have entirely sensible rules that are their for everyones benefit and safety and almost always the rules have been voted on and accepted by the membership.

If you read all the posts you will see there are lots saying they have been hit on multiple cards even if they don't use them to pay the BMFA. HAve a read of the links below too.

This is nothing at all to do with the BMFA, we don't store anyone's payment details.
Could we get the thread title changed please.

For this session we will be joined by members of the CAA and senior members of the BMFA Board and staff.
Following the same format as BBC Question Time this is your chance to put questions to the panel, questions must be pre-submitted in advance and can be on any BMFA or CAA related topic.
Questions can be submitted at https://itat.bmfa.uk/qt2024

I wonder why BMFA insurance isn't automatically renewed like other insurances; normally you get renewed unless you actively opt out.
Its a membership, not just insurance. Insurances only auto renew if you select to be auto renewed. However you can tick the box for your membership to auto renew if thats what you want to do.

Are you sure? I have just renewed mine. When I started it said I was CAA registered, I paid my £10. 33 to renew and then afterwards the CAA box was blank implying I am not CAA registered. However the confirmation of payment email was sent. So mine seems just the same as Nigel Heather!
Can you check now please. Should be there.

Have you seen the weather forecast for wednesday/Thursday !
Haven't looked, I will be chained to my desk until the weekend. Hoping Sunday will be flyable.
-
In answer to the original questions.
No it doesn't matter in the slightest, be what you want to be and enjoy what you want to do, just do it with consideration for others, safely and lawfully.
I do hope the good weather returns soon!!- 2

Haven't had reports of it not being resolved until seeing this. If you can drop me an email to [email protected] with details of who you are and a screenshot of what you see after you click on 'Membership' from the top menu I will be able to investigate.

What should the JustGo portal entry look like if the CAA Fliyer ID is valid because mine expires on Feb17th but it just shows as below.
There's a whole lot that just isn't clear about the portal.
Does this only show if renewing through the BMFA or should they pick up this information from the CAA if renewed directly with them?
Will only show if you renewed through the BMFA.

This issue has been resolved.

There is something wrong with your emails.
I sent on Thursday 25th Jan at 18:50 - you say that has never been received
I sent on Thursday 25th Jan at 22:36 - you say that went into your SPAM folder
I sent the requested screenshot on 27th Jan at 09:26 - you say that you haven't received that
Sounds like you have got some systems issues, databases not being updated and emails going missing.
Since your email system is clearly broken, here is the screenshot
Normally I would see details of the registration such as the expiry date. But the portal is not populated which makes it look like I am not registered with the CAA. I know I am, it just isn't being displayed on the BMFA Portal.
Cheers,
Nigel
I have received your email sent today at 18.01. Email is not 100% reliable unfortunately, but we do receive hundreds every day. There is no issue with the database, your memberships and CAA are showing correctly on that, there is however a small issue with the interface that displays them to you. The support guys at JustGo have been informed and I am sure it will soon be resolved.

Thanks - I have seen your response and sent the screenshot you requested - BTW my first contact was on Thursday at 18:50 over a day earlier than you say.
Just checked as I hadn't seen any earlier contact from you which would have ended up in my inbox on this matter. Found an email in the membership inbox junk folder sent Friday ay 22.36. Not received a screenshot email though.
The matter is in hand though and should be resolved fairly quickly.

Would be nice to get some sort of response from BMFA.
The enquiry you posted on the portal at 9.54pm last night received a response at 7.06pm this morning.

Maybe an acceptable definition could be established here and presented to the powers that be ?
What for, simply not needed.
Personal opinion coming up!
Any model aircraft you fly in a park, safely and lawfully can be considered a park flyer. What can be flown safely and lawfully will of course change depending on the park.
Doesn't need any more thought than that.

Thanks Alan and Andy...
Much appreciated...
Will print it off so I have an up to date as possible copy for now.
Andy, will bmfa inform members of updates, or leave it to members to check every now and again ?
Over.....
A notice will go on the website when its updated.

Quite, but I don't want to print it off on Friday if an update is planed for release next Monday...it's nice to have a hard copy, internet phone has a matchbox ( wg rather than sv ) sized screen, but point taken.
Any feedback Andy ( bmfa, Symons ) ?
Over.....
Likely to be some updates in the next couple of months.
