  1. Hi Keith just for clarity, you have offered the book to Nigel already. I will seek out a copy on the web. But thanks anyway! Gordon
  2. Hi Nigel, yes Bob Doe did have a garage in Kent, a small village called Rusthall- i grew up in Rusthall and recall Bob actually filling up my first car with petrol - it was back in the days of service and you were not allowed to use the pumps yourself. I had no idea of Bobs background at the time or who he was- one of the locals told me his history. Bob was a "talking head" on many of the Battle of Britain documentaries in those days. His garage was eventually sold and bulldozed to be replaced with 6 low cost flats - i have a friend who lives in one of them. The building is now called Robert Doe Place, quite rightly. His funeral was held at All Saints church at a place called Crowborough where it was attended by many military types and included a victory roll by a Spitfire over the church as the congregation were coming out- the service used to be on You Tube but i think removed now. I got married at All Saints 38 years ago.
  3. looks good Robin, nearly completed mine but not started on the aileron wing- can you tell/show how you installed the servo / linkages for the ailerons please? Did you use two servos or just the one? The plan shows a traditional one servo version using bellcranks in the wing which seems more work than maybe using torque rods? I've not built a glider with ailerons so would appreciate your ( or anybody's) input. Thanks G
  4. Hi Andy arriving a tad late to this discussion but i had a radical prostate radical prostatectomy via robot assisted surgery back in April 2018. In truth this process is actually key hole surgery so not very invasive - having said that it did involve 5 punctures to my stomach area as the surgeon uses a system of rods, cameras etc to do the work of removing the prostate. For me the surgery was of no consequence but the challenge was the "collateral damage" that is involved in such procedures. I would ask your consultant about "nerve sparing" as well as brachytherapy as an option. Ref incontinence, most chaps recover full control in time with only 5% of men needing further help to achieve a level of control- i am one of the 5% so have undergone further treatment. I am sure your consultant has emphasised the importance of carrying out pelvic floor exercises well before any surgery? Take this advice and you will be fine should you progress to any form of surgery. Each case is different so if you want to discuss further then please PM me and i'll be happy to discuss further but bear in mind it will only be my own perspective so may not be appropriate for this public forum. Whatever, i wish you well in the future, your chances of recovery are extremely high. My local health authority did actually have a DaVinci machine but i believe was returned as it was a high cost process! But there are so many options now so not really an issue. Gordon
  5. Apologies Mod when i go to the Ebay thread, or any for that matter, how do you post a new message? I know that sounds basic but assume I am! Do you go to add Posting and then write in the box? I assumed that would appear as a reply to the previous Forumers post? thanks Gordon
  6. ..I understand the point you're making Don and agree we should stick with any commitments we make. However less than a month ago i "sold" a Pioneer turntable on Ebay only for the buyer refusing to pay. I reported him to Ebay and got a standard issue response that they would take it up with him- as yet no response and we all know i won't get one- the only consolation i have is that i gave him a poor rating but still have the turntable. A neighbour of mine runs a business on Ebay and she tells me my experience is quite common- people get over excited when bidding and then over commit themselves. On a positive note the posting has received 424 views so far- unless it's mainly you lot! G
  7. thanks for the input Kevin i wondered if splitting the items would be a better bet, especially the Cox engine and Freshman glider. I was in a tad hurry to clear my shed and in my haste offered the items as a job lot. I'm able to cancel the listing and start again? Regards Gordon
  8. Please take a look at my current Ebay posting **LINK** Thanks Gordon
  9. many thanks Flyer, Simon, Mike agreed it does look like a mix of various known gliders which leads me to think this is a modified or own design plane. It remains an "unknown glider" for the purposes of Ebay, thanks for your inputs though. Gordon
  10. Hi everyone can anyone help me by recognising this sloper pls? Around 60 inch wingspan, foam wings and balsa fuselage. I want to put it on Ebay but want to be able to offer a bit more info Thank you Gordon
  11. Hi Robin i did post a reply to your blog a couple of days ago but i fear i closed it down before sending so maybe it didn't go?? Anyway, i am pleased to see your build blog for Soarceror as i got SLEC to make me up two Soarceror kits a while back- one standard and one aileron wing- but i have not started building either model as yet. I too was planning on increasing the wingspan on one of the wings but by adding just one more rib bay- i have built a Soarceror before and think it's a great plane but needs to be less "compact". I will also strengthen the tailplane as i recall it was a tad flimsy on my first Soarceror. I'll follow your blog closely as i am hoping to copy your build, hope that's ok?? Gordon
