  1. Adding up to my last post, I also use a JR on 2.4Ghz. Memories to have many models with all the nitty gritty details of trim, D/R and expos always set, is a true blessing.
  2. Hi all, I also use a Futaba Skysport 6 on 35 MHz (35.050 to be exact)) without an issue. As of yesterday, I've had about 40 minutes divided in two sessions of pleasurabe flights with my 18 yr old Multiplex Panda on that frequency. What got my down was my neck and the need for water as we were experiencing about 86F at 10AM Until a very short while ago I was using on the model a 19 yr Sksysport 4. The problem with it is the NiCd battery . It sat for long without use and somehow I got it recovered. Nonetheless, it charges fast, but discharges even faster! The NimH on the former after yesterday's usage still shows about 100% charge! PP
  3. Servo with bad electrical connections? A friend of mine lost a DH Vampire EDF on the third flight of the morning as it would suddenly enter a brisk nose down attitude and then recover either by itself or with full up elevator. He would put her flying straight and level, (properly trimmed of course), and no elevator input would be given and it would dive. Decided to land because of the erratic behaviour but on finals happened again and you know what happens when you run out of altitude... The servo was later checked and performed nicely on the tester... but it kept showing an erratic behaviour. He didn't tear it apart, but it was thrown in the garbage as our best assumption was that some inner connections were failing. All of his next models are safer now!
  4. More work has been accomplished on this model and nearing completion
  5. More progress accomplished yesterday on this model - underside and fuselage sides are covered
  6. Posted by Dave Reap on 22/04/2018 08:11:44: Its about 7.5oz with a 3s 450... and it flies rapidly on 3s at just 1/2 power.. more than fast enough for a park fly, it will slow down easy enough for landing.. The KF top step smooths out the flight nicely.. It also flies well enough on a 2s, still having vertical performance. The 2205 quad motor gives more than enough power, Hi Dave, Thats very neat. I'll fwd this to a fellow aeromodeller that builds his models exclusively out of Depron (the latest big thing he built was a Martin Mars model - I'll post some pics ASAP). Probably he will have a go at this. As the trad built Mini Blitz is supersonic, this setup and the lightness of materials surely will make it go hypersonic! I wish you many pleasurable flights! Regards, Paulo
  7. Posted by Mike Collins on 21/04/2018 11:12:23: I added a couple of roundels to the bottom that may help visibility NICE!!
  8. Nice! Thx for the tech info. I'll let you know how I get along with changes to my setup. Probably not this weekend, as rain showers are forecast for Portugal. Regards, Paulo
  9. Mike, I just checked and I have 5mm each way from neutral position. Clearly it is too much, even with 80% D/R set. I think I'll cut that to 3mm to see if I can have a more sedate flying experience. Paulo
  10. Rene, >>> Sounds tail heavy? It may have sounded like that but it's not. CoG was carefully set. However, it hardly has the advised down and sidethrust . It does make a difference with such a small model. Mike, As for D/R, I dialled in 80% of travel each way. Expo is 70%. I have more than 3mm throw, though. I think that being conservative on the throttle it's not that bad with the rates/expo I have now. The small size it's worse for my eyes and reflexes! I'll keep on experimenting and give notice. Paulo
  11. Hello TWS, My model has an engine on the 1200 kV class with a 1300 mAh battery. The first flights were performed with 2/3rds of the recommended throws, no expo and no d/r set. Take-off can be done at 75% power and hardly any hand thrust. A nightmare: very, very twitchy. Every tiny movement puts the model immediately on a 90º (or more) bank and as it has no functional rudder, starts diving to the ground at an alarming rate. Yet, on the third flight it hit the ground and the engine bulkhead came loose. The 4th flight last Sat was better: 70% expo (JR radio, hence positive values) and 80% d/r and it was a proper flight. Actually, it flies fine and slow at around 20% power! Nonetheless, doesn't cope well with a little wind. I found myself banking right into wind and it went left as if it were a sail in the sky. Do keep it near you - high contrast colours may not help you out. As soon as it is head-on (or tail going away) in level flight it's just a fine line in the sky. Perception of orientation can easily be lost. A hard landing ensued and the engine bulkhead (electric motors don't have firewalls, do they?) came loose again but it's been repaired by now. Sturdy it is, but don't push your luck. Sorry, no pics of the flights are available. Hope this is of help. I'll watch this space for your own flight reports Regards, Paulo
  12. Nice! All the best for the maiden and keep us posted, please. PP
  13. After some time without devoting time to this model, yesterday, some progress was made yesterday as the ailerons were glued in place and the wing mated to the fuselage. Some tweaks are needed, but it's the best I could do.
  14. Before maiden flight - all smiles by now! As you can see, we don't have grassy areas as those found in the UK. I have added a ski underneath the fuselage. Nonetheless, four flights and four props destroyed.
  15. Maidened yesterday. Needed three attempts to have it fly for more than 3 secs! Nose heavy threw it to the ground and no expo contributed to that. Firewall became detached on the second flight and after gluing it back on with Q-Bond (impressive stuff) from a fellow aeromodeller and 70% expo on all surfaces managed almost a full circuit. When head-on for landing I became disoriented as it was farther than I thought (it goes fast) and it is really small. Went down for a tough landing. Needs a nose job, but other than that, everything survived in good shape. Maybe next week it'll be back. A strong word of caution: don't it go away more that 200ft unless you have near-perfect eyesight! Less than that is even better. Unfortunately, no pics were taken with the model flying. PP
