  1. I've got an AXI 2820/10 that I intend to put in my Junior 60. The thing is, the motor tapers down at the front, so I've got no idea about what motor mount to use. I feel a bit queasy about using a radial mount - should I simply screw it to a ply plate to glue in the nose, or should I stick with using a motor mount bolted to the firewall, and if so, which one? For details of the AXI, go to the Model Motors website.
  2. Hey camermanblokethingy In response to your second to last post... Look, I know we all have different senses of humour, but STEADY ON!!! This is almost as crazy as the Sudanese crisis! On plans, basically I just look at them, think 'cool!' and look over them for any different methods/structure that I've never seen before, to add to my own little box of skills (which is about the size of a peanut). Sometimes the occasional gem pops up and makes it really worth it. Actually, to put in my own feedback, I love the articles on kits where you actually stick bits of wood together, instead of screwing together pre-covered wing panels! I reckon it's great that the magazine is so diverse. I've been reading with interest the heli tutorial series thingy. If it was an ordinary heli mag, then I'd never bother. This might introuce people to a whole new branch of the hobby. There. Speech over.
  3. You're joking? Are yuo seriously saying that Multiplex would drop the Magister? True, it may be a bit big and perhaps fast for a trainer, but to drop it completely? Oh dear.
  4. Hardly the next Sandown, but I loved it? did anyone else go - and did you see the Tony Nijhuiss Wellington? I loved it - especially the torpedo drop. Is there an events article coming up for it soon?
  5. I've been looking again and again at the Aerobird 3 to replace my old Firebird Commander, but Hobbyzone doesn't say that the plane is equipped with an AC charger-just a DC one! I know I'm being fussy, but I generally like to just go up the hill (literally a minute down the road) and fly it there. Is there an AC charger included, and if not, should I just use my own Pro Peak Varipulse charger and make my own charge leads? I'm being rather grumpy, but I liked the old AC charger.
  6. My duration fell off at only about 30 flights or so How does that work then???
  7. Thank you everyone for your replies, but I was wandering if there is a proper tradtional build kit with good instructions/ plans that should serve as a rolemodel for other manufacturers/ distributors?
  8. I've been building a kit form Flair Junior 60, on reccomendation of one of my club members, and I loved flying his. This is going to be my third proper model (mushed my Magister, then built Simplex - very fun, but too small for club hurricanes, ripped half one side off). Quite an exciting story, isn't it? Anyways, I've marvelled at how my building skills seem to have exploded on balsa, and I've been having great fun building it - I can see why people enjoy this so much! However, there have been a fair few shortcomings on both the plan and the instructions, and yesterday I spent about an hour fuming at both of them concerning the undercart instillation, then got bored and got glued to playing on Halo for an hour or 2. This isn't the first time this has happened at various points in the build. I know I'm lazy sometimes, but I feel as if although almost anyone can fly it, Flair haven't  really made a big effort to produce a good set of instructions. Am I in over my head (almost) when I took this up, or is it designed for those with a few models under their belt? ARTF trainer manuals are massive (generally), with big, clear instructions and lovely pictures/ diagrams, and they don't involve half the building (if any) of a kit! Only my determination and patience has seen me through all of this. Shouldn't kits have better or more detailed instructions/ plans?
  9. Yep only difference is powertrain. However, I've decided to cannabilise the airframe to build a Flair Junior 60 (leccy) to go at my own pace (to be honest, the Magister scares me)
  10. Thanks Andy, but no-one stocks the mount anymore (looks like they used to) Do you think I should make a new one?
  11. Sorry I've abandoned this thread for so long - neither Modelspot nor WLM have been replying to my emails (4 months now?) and I forgot about the whole thing. I think I'll call Gordon at some stage.
  12. I just got my PiccoZ yesterday, and needless to say, I don't have any doubt as to why it's being sold over in America as the Air Hogs Havoc. Mine seems to have lost the will to go forwards-if I turn it to the right to start a circuit going, it just pirouettes everywhere, and if it doesn't, it just stops going forward after a second, and mooches off somewhere, like a grumpy cat (too much experience there) Anyone have any ideas?
  13. Thanks Tom - confirmation letter just came in today. Any idea when the PiccoZ is supposed to come through? Does it come with the magizine or just randomly turn up in the post?
  14. Thanks David, it just came in today. I feel all giggly and excited now.
  15. I thought it might have been partly due to the rapidly declining populartity in the forum - no offence to anyone from RCM&E, but the setting up of this forum kinda strangled the amount of people over here (have to admit though, this forum's a lot better anyway!) Anyway, I was also wondering how long it usually takes for a subscription (sent in by post) to get processed and how long it would take for the confirmation letter/magizines to come pouring through?
  16. I just went on to the BMFA forums and it said this: Forum closed Because of extensive misuse, the BMFA Council has reluctantly decided to close the BMFA website forum. You what? Does anyone know what on Earth is going on here (at least they could have elaborated) Logging in didn't help either...
  17. Hi everyone I was just wondering since I've just finished my exams, when is my RCM&E subscription is going to come through - I've sent the form and cheque in about a week ago and I'm being ridiculously impatient here! Sorry to complain (I'm not sure if I am actually!) but yeah. How long does it take to get processed and the confirmation letter thingy to come through?
  18. Apparently plawner.net is going to review one at some stage soon
  19. YAAAAY thanks so much! I thought Modlespots email was down or something - phoning for something else I was looking for ages ago worked fine.
  20. For the Junior 60 I'd use 8xGP 3700 cells running an axi 2820 with a 12/8" prop
  21. Hey all My Magister crashed a while back and all the plastic bits in the nose smashed up, and some of them were lost in our club's long grass. I've emailed Modelspot months back but they've never replied about spares. Spares are listed on the Multiplex catalogue and their site, but no-one sells them here. Please help. I'm bored. Where can I get them from? Also, when I first flew my Magister I was absolutely terrified, dispite my instructor being there to help. Someone at my club reccomended the flair junior 60 (he let me fly his, fantastic aircraft) that I could convert to electric power. I've got all the gear which is compatible in both 'planes but should I get it and take it easy at first?
  22. Matt Watts

    Stop it!

Oh yeah, acutally kamakazikev 24 I've made a thread on all things flying for happy news and funny stuff. Complaining is depressing, but sometimes necessary, i.e. if you nag someone enough they'll either do it or decapitate you. Just use suggestions.
  23. I only wish there was a trilander here - the differences are minute, and the trilander is definatly the better looking. oh well. Britten-Normen Islander (in aurigny livery) Hawker Typhoon - lovely and beefy DH hornet Trilander, Trilander, Trilander! I wonder what it would look like woth G-JOEY livery! Reminds me of my grandpa who used to live there *sniffle*
  24. haha, brilliant! Oh, and congratulations by the way.
