  6. Hi Dan,put your plane nose down on the kitchen scales and run your fan you can read the thrust you are getting from your fan /motor wait a few secs till the thrust is stable i always do this with /edf models they do fly well with less than one to one thrust /weight when the get airborne a good launch is essential and not easy to do your self with your radio in your other hand .john.
  7. got my rcme specail today quite suprised by the d/f version 4 50mm fans .i have flown a chris golds small hunter on a 3s fan on saturday and it was gutless to say the least very dissapointed with the performance, and thinking of the 4s to replace it hopefully four fans are better as T N says in an early post ,John

  10. Hello John, why would you want to run your glow plug continually ?the norm is to start your engine then the fuel keeps the glow plug alight for the whole flight, there are devices to light your glow plug in flight but i have never needed one and have flown in all weathers ( Not rain ) or have i missed something john.
  11. nobody seems to have said but you can dye the canopy with dylon clothes dye it used to be quite popular best to try it on another canopy first to get the shade /darkness and colour you want without spoiling your canopy .john

  14. So Does the caa rule allow you to fly within 50 m while recording video by fpv /drone or not? i am confused more now than when i read the earlier posts thanks john . Edited By John Mccullagh on 04/04/2014 18:37:36
  15. It all seems so wrong, every comercial drone flight flight i have seen is within 50 m of a structure and most are for the purpose of recording faults or inspecting structures, pretty useless from further away .all the drone footage on tv is within 50 m of structures and i havent seen anyone taken to court for that yet.there is obviously something wrong with the rules .
