  1. I say that Tom is spot on with his suggestion of an Easy Glider - unless you have an aversion to foam this is a cracking model - easy to fly, a real floater and easy to repair.
  2. Besides, unless you've taped the wings and fin on it would probably de-kit itself having taken a hit from Timbo
  3. Somehow a Wevo is just too nice a model to combat, don't you think?
  4. er - gloss paint?   Flyboy - that's a FIELD mate - as flat as a proverbial
  5. So c'mon David - how's the PSS version coming on?
  6. Do you mean odd as in portrait rather than landscape - or just odd as in 'stick your phone in the verge and hope it captures some action'?!   That was the maiden, by the way! Used some battery setting up, hence the 3 min flight.   I don't recall asking for that haircut though - I appear to have a very thin area on the back. I must go back and complain  Edited By Matthew Lloyd on 07/03/2011 23:27:11
  7. I'll try that again - OLD code this time!      Edited By Matthew Lloyd on 07/03/2011 21:09:06
  8. May I drop in a link to my maiden of this model? - EDF, not slope I'm afraid (prepares to be scolded by Mr Moderator )   Although a Chinese Takeaway model - it does have some nice touches where the designers have put in some thought. Clever design of the ESC cooling ducts, nice chunky fuselage moulding and good overall appearance   I don't like the flimsy tail feathers, thin plastic nose, and oh-so cheap servos,   But it does fly - and makes me grin. Which can only be a good thing. I'm flying mine without undercart as I don't have any handy tarmac to fly from - so it's hand launches in the field for me  Edited By Matthew Lloyd on 07/03/2011 21:09:51
  9. One of the aspects of slope soaring I warmed to when I started was that slopers didn't take themselves too seriously.   Q.E.D.
  10. I need to check, Lee, but I'm fairly sure there's already a thread and build blog for this model   Calling Mr Moderator!
  11. I'm looking forward to hear what you think of the Vector
  12. I've also heard that semi wing is preferable as it is more versatile in a wider range of conditions. You could buy both!
  13. I've not flown a Phase 6, but there is definately something about that design that is just lovely.   I've had a close look at a fully glassed version where the wood shone through the clear, tough and very tactile resin - gorgeous!   I think this design is a right of passage for us slopers. Go for it I say!
  14. Be aware that you are NOT allowed to sell anything you make from Reed's plans. That would not be cool at all.
  15. Excellent! Make a spare then please! What will you do for wings? I did get quotes for a set once - should I dig them out for you?
  16. If I recall correctly Richard broke everything he brought that day, so it wasn't just me   We're planning an Easter Slomping trip to Rhossili next. Jart fest anybody?
  17. Al and I need to get back up there   BTW Tim - I've fitted an LED battery checker into the F.art - now all tickety-boo
  18. Oh yes Ulty - the M70 is drop-dead proverbial   Unless you can get your hands on a used LT r6dan, you'll be scratch-building a mouldie from Reed's plan. That's the whole ethos of the original really - the LT was pushed on the designer by a far-eastern manufacturer who didn't read the copyright on the plans.   I've not flown a moulded version, but I am certain it would fly SO much better than my EPP sausage. I can tell that although my F.art goes well, it doesn't turn as crisply as it's hollow cousin.   Try and hunt down an LT (watch the fuz though - some mouldings are poor), or sell yer gran and go for an M70. Gawd knows I would!
  19. Ha! Depends on your experience I guess.     Initially I flew it without rates or expo on the ailerons, which is hairy to say the least   It rolls faster than you can blink, so I now have loads of expo dialed in. I think this is in part due to me flying mode 2, so even breathing on the elevator might inadvertently introduce some aileron and bang! It's rolled twice. Elevator is fine - nice and progressive. Now it's sorted for my abilities I really enjoy it. You can't take your eye of it which makes flights thrilling and memorable. It carries stacks of momentum in the turns, and trucks on through any winds. Turn it into wind and it soars fabulously and gains height with ease (in a good blow). Keep the speed up mind - think jet-like maneuvers - big carving turns and loops are the order of the day, and half pipes the size of skyscrapers. Inverted is the same as upright, so you may enjoy fast cuban 8s, low passes and outside loops.   Landing is nice and straight forward - spoilerons not always required here (depends on your LZ I guess) - to date I have lost speed in the downwind turns and plonked it in the heather.Get a helper to launch it for you - it needs a good chuck to get going, and there's not much to hold onto under that mid-mounted wing.As with any sloper - LET IT GO. Don't hold onto the elevator. Speed is your friend
  20. By way of an update, folk may like to know that this model is still flying, and is now on my JR Tx with - get this - 80% expo on the ailerons Flew it last Friday in 50 ish winds at Pole Cott. Most successful - and still loads of fun
  21. Why are these models a 'move on'? PS flew Jart today - twice - and took it home in one piece! Isn't a bit of Expo a wonderful thing!
