  1. Taken with phone in one hand and tx in the other - give me an orange and I'll peel that too!
  2. Thank you Frank - I've just read up on this and now assigned the spoilers to the throttle (JR pcm9x), and mixed in some elevator too. It is a beautiful spot, but in an easterly the slope isn't very wide, but VERY high! Caer Caradoc, near Bucknell, Shropshire - close to my studio in Leintwardine.
  3. Maiden flight behind me now 🙂 Still some trimming to sort out - I ran out of down trim. Home in one piece so I call that a result. Hard to find easterly slopes around here, I've been getting the maps out as it's been easterly winds for what seems like weeks now. As my car is off the road I've been using my camper, and the BoT fits in it nicely fully rigged! Spoilers rather over powerful: they dump all the lift and pitch the model steeply down. I may try shorter arms on the servos or switch to a different channel so I can be progressive rather than on or off with them.
  4. One more evening required to sort the balance and throws, then I'm good for a flat field trim test. Dreaming of balmy days sloping my lovely new toy 😎
  5. Hi @Tim Hooper - I'm close to the first flight of my BoT 🙂 But nowhere can I find any suggestions of the throws on the rudder and elevator - would you please let me know what you have on your model?
  6. Thank you for your input guys. I have changed the wing fixing to wing bolts, and swapped the joiner from steel to carbon. I have also fitted spoilers! Soon I'll be covering it. Very much looking forward to flying it. I found this excellent article written by the BoT designer, reviewing the Dynaflight kit - very helpful - if tricky to read!
  7. Hi there Tim! I'm building a Dynaflight BoT from a kit that has sat untouched for over ten years, and I have loved getting back into building with balsa. I faithfully followed the plans and I am struggling to have faith in the wing joiner and the banded on wings. How have you got on with yours? Specifically, I'm looking for answers to... 1) What size wing bands do I need? 2) Did you add a fibreglass band around the wing root area? 3) I'm thinking of adding a couple of locating pins to the wing roots - did you? I plan to fly mine off slopes on balmy summer days 😎 BW Matthew
  8. I've just downloaded the instructions - found a pdf online. It looks like I don't need plans
  9. Howdy Folks I've just been given a CG Sophisticated Lady kit, but there are no plans or instructions in the box. Does anyone have these can they can let me have? I will pay postage. Thank you! Matthew
  10. Flying off Titterstone Clee is a bit hit and miss. Easterlies aren't great, Westerlies are good but if the wind is coming from the west I'd rather be on the Mynd. I've flown off the top at the trig point in a north-westerly and it's been almost Ormesome . Foam only up there though - too many rocks. There's a lower ridge facing south/south west down by in the quarry that's fun with a Weasel or similar, but overall this hill is bitty at best - not a true sloper's slope. I live two minutes away so I often grab a session up there if I've not much time.
  11. I want to know about the maiden! C'mon - get her up there - I'm tempted to buy one of these @import url(http://www.modelflying.co.uk/CuteEditor_Files/Style/SyntaxHighlighter.css);@import url(/CuteEditor_Files/public_forums.css);
  12. On my EPP Jart I covered the wings in both CW tape and brown paper applied with PVA...   But you should ask yourself if you really want to load up this model. You've not flown it yet - so you don't know it's characteristics. Also, not all models like being loaded up. It can upset them. Generally they are designed with a wing loading in mind. My Wildthing flies in a wide range of wind speeds without modification.   If you must increase the loading why not consider some kind of ballast provision as you build it?
  13. I keep looking at models like the Flyfly DG1000. SO cheap!   Flyfly DG1000   Are they rubbish? Built up wing may not take much slope abuse. Fuz may well be thinner than a squeezy bottle. I don't know - does anyone own one like this?
  14. Welcome Mike   We're a nice bunch here, and you'll not find us taking things too seriously
  15. A lot of us fly with 9 channel JR sets - lots of glider-specific modes to play with. Mine has a Spektrum module, but of course you now have dedicated 2.4gig sets available (2.4 is great for sloping). I'm not sure the DX8 is going to give you what you want - does it 'do' 4 servo wings? You may not want that capability now, but I'm betting you will in the future!
