  1. I have so far managed to work things out as I have gone along on my new journey into frsky. But my first real struggle is setting up the throttle on an ic engine. I want to end up with a stick that moves from idle at fully back position to full throttle at fully forwards position and then a switch that when activated cuts the engine. At moment I just have a setup that has throttle control moving the engine carb from fully closed to fully open.
where do I go next please?
    thanks all.

Not to be too old fashioned but install ethos suite version 1.4.8 and then open it and go the documentation tab at the bottom and download the manual, it's suprisingly readable.

Thanks.  Doing this now, but notice that whilst github has version 1.4.8(your link), frsky website only seems to have 1.4.5 for ethos suite.  Could someone please explain why the difference and which I should be using / trust?  Thanks

Other than wiping any pre-existing model memories, I'm not sure whether there would be any value in doing that. I'm not even sure it is possible tbh.

Ok thanks for your thoughts MB. I guess I keep trying to compare to Windows based PCs where after a while they tend to slow and become more ineffective the more you use them and so benefit from a reset every so often. Happy just to delete models in this case.

  4. I am new to open source, having used Spektrum for many years but thought I would give it a try. Have got myself a second hand X20S from a trusted source and about to order a couple of basic frsky 4 or 6 ch receivers to get started with.   Only looking to use the most basic functions on some simple foam and IC models.

Any recommendations on how to approach this journey please?

  5. RCM&E is the only paper reading material I engage with.  Reading it normally involves a cuppa and a comfy chair preferably outside in the sun.  If it went digital only I doubt I would bother reading it.

  6. I have a a couple of old 2 stroke engines which I would like to clean up and get them somewhat closer to looking new again.  How does everyone go about this please.  I have seen some ideas that simply say stick them in a pan of boiling water but I cant believe it is that easy otherwise I am sure many more of us would have shiny engines on the front of our planes?

    Thanks

  7. I decided that I didn't have enough projects on the go ? so have started to put together my recently acquired (Thanks Jonathan M) Galaxy Models Musketeer.  I want to use a four stroke and subject to them passing the working test, current choices could be.....

    Saito FA45

    Saito FA-50

Enya 40-4c Open Rocker (not enough I assume?)

ASP 52 (currently planed for Acrowot)

Any thoughts and experiences as to my best option?

    Thanks

  8. I have a cameo 3 that I bought as a bundle form MDP supplies (really good service)....

    MDP Supplies Cameo 4

It came with everything I needed (cutting mat, auto blade, squeegie, transfer tape, etc) and I got 20 or so sheets of normal vinyl and a smaller selection of heat transfer vinyl.  The latter I have used on T-shirts etc with the kids.  The latter for loads of different things.  I also run solatrim through it.  I use cutting mat a lot but not all the time.  Role of transfer tape is essential.   I only have the free software but it does everything I need including creating outlines from JPEGS.
