  1. Flown mine a couple of more times and been really happy. However, this afternoon it didn't feel as comfortable as previous and I ended up nosing it in. Managed to snap the motor shaft. Is the shaft itself replaceable or is now the time to upgrade the motor? I want to keep the same 10Amp ESC and 2S batteries though.
  2. I need a new ESC for my E-Pioneer Trainer and need help choosing one please. The one I have to replace witch it came with is a HiModel Professional 60A Brushless. With so many different brands and sources to choose from I haven't a clue where to go for it so please help. Thanks
  3. Thanks all for the information so far. Must admit though having just checked, the motor is not running true as well. Hopefully I'll be able to get it straight enough otherwise not sure fixing the fuselage will be worth it! I may as well end up buying a new one!.
  4. I managed to land my WOT 4 a little too early yesterday and as a result took the nose and the undercarriage off. I was going to simply buy a new fuselage, or even new model, but have been encouraged by those at my club to have a go at fixing it all back together. BUT, the more I read about adhesives, the more I am not sure what to use, so would like some simply advise about it please? Also, should i be looking to put some longitudinal strengtheners along the front of the fuzz or is the old saying the glue is stronger than the foam actually enough? Thanks all.
  5. Well, had the opportunity to get the Aldi 2.5hp 24l model for £55 last night. However, decided against it as am going to buy a HVLP paint station instead for my larger DIY work, and a small modelling compressor and airbrush for the hobbies. Just now need to decide whether to get the AS186 or AS196, with what air brushes and from where. Happy to hear further recommendations from recent purchase experiences. Thanks
  6. Some great discussions, ideas and thoughts, so thank you all. My thoughts so far: 1. I definitely don't want to go home made on this. Not saying it wont work, but would like a purpose built, reliable and good looking piece of kit that has taken little of my time to acquire. I would rather spend the time building planes or other models. 2. I like the idea of having a larger spray gun to be able to handle sheds, decking and fences. My impression is that as long as I can thin it down I'll be able to run any product through it and not just the water based mainstream products which I don't like (I prefer a good oil based wood preserver - nicer look and longer lasting). 3. However, a larger compressor seems like a lot of overkill to run a small airbrush for small static models and the stuff my daughters are likely to use it for (cake making, nail art, school projects etc). 4. It is also not particularly portable to move around so will be less inclined to take into house. So, in conclusion, current view is that I need a smaller AS196 type compressor for craft and hobby stuff, and a larger 25ltr HVLP set up for the other stuff including larger war birds etc. Now I have to decide oil or non oil, but would end up a sub £100 piece of kit I expect. Seems the only issue with oil based is a few kilos heavier and the need to change some oil every so often. They do run quieter though. And of course this could all change again between now and the weekend!
  7. Thanks O. I did consider those, but I thought they were a lot larger and noisier than the AS models Tim referred to. If that is the case, I am happy to amend my requirements to not worry about tools, and simply use it for painting.
  8. Thanks Tim. Just been looking at the AS186 and AS196. How large a job can you do with the 196? Will it take a gun capable of spraying a 60" warbird for example? Thanks
  9. Hmmmm, disappointingly I have had no responses to this. I thought there would be a myriad of responses! Come on, someone must have experiences with compressors and airbrushes / spray guns.

  12. As a kid I had a small model airbrush which ran of small air canisters. With my interest spanning RC car restoration, RC plane building and static model building I'm thinking now might be a good time to at least investigate getting a compressor mainly for paint spraying, but also would be nice just to have a jet of air for clearing sanding dust etc and maybe start a small range of tools eventually if I see a benefit. However, I have no idea what I need so looking for some advice would be great please. Thanks
  13. Mine got its maiden flight last week. Not too bad actually and actually enjoyed flying it. Only thing I found as an issue was elevator travel, and whilst I can adjust that with my D/R settings I am a little concerned by the stiffness of the hinges. Not sure if that is a result of my build (excessive glue perhaps) or a nature of the design / hinge. Or could the servo not be man enough? Any thoughts / experiences of other owners? Thanks
  14. Richard - Fair enough. Others - because I have access to a printer so why pay for someone else to print my spare copies? Mods, Happy for this thread to be closed as i fear it runs the risk of heading down a back hole.
  15. Thanks guys, but I already have the ability to print further copies, so having a PDF is very useful to me. Was just trying to save the scanning effort that was all.
  16. I'm starting to think ahead for my next build which is going to be a DB Cirrus Moth 40 from a full kit which I have already. Am going to attempt to scan teh full plan into a PDF, but before I do I thought I would just see if there is a better source of an already successfully scanned plan already out there. Photo below is of my plan to prove I own it, but its pretty creased so not sure how well it will scan. Thanks
  17. Thanks Denis W and Ben B All built now and thank for the advice. Just balanced and I'm ending up with 10g of extra weight up front, although now got to take off the cowl and work out how to mount it securely. And that is with an 850 battery.
  18. Percy, I am assuming the thread to refer to is my previous thread which actually discusses whether to go for the Mini Wot 4 or something else (in my case the mini spirit glider from HobbyKing. I started this thread as a tidy Mini WOT 4 only discussion that could rattle on for ever with thoughts, problems and improvements just for the plane in question. Maybe a bit OCD? Started the build this morning. Ailerons glued on. Just trying to free the servo lead pull string now from inside the wing!
  19. well, I picked one up today so thought I would start this thread for everyone to put their thoughts, comments and advice in. I know my previous post already had some, but figured a seperate plane specific thread might spark some more interest. i haven't started building mine yet but bits dont look that bad. Dispointingly though the build needs servo extension leads but doesn't come with any so I had to buy 2 of those as well as a y-lead.
  20. Evening all. I ended up buying the mini spirit and tonight took it for its maiden flight. Was a bit (lot) nervous having only flown the trainer so far, and never hand launched as well. So went up the local park, gave it its final checks and chucked it! Well, apart from requiring a lot of down elevator to trim it, it (I   flew well. Obviously a lot faster than I was used to, but it and I survived and I brought it in for 2 perfect landings onto the short wet grass during the 5 minute flight. Looking forward to (many) more flights with this now. Thanks Andy
  21. Posted by andyh on 30/08/2017 16:09:57: the Mini Spirit is a doddle to fly - it's not nearly as fast as it looks & anyway, that's what the stick on the right is for you're welcome to have a go on mine if you're who I think you are - didn't I offer you a go last weekend & you turned me down? Haha. Hi Andy. Yes it is me. ad yes you did offer. The luck I was having on Sunday I was definitely not best placed to fly someone else's plane but thank you anyway. The mini spirit is looking like a good option though for the park. @Ken. Yes, unless we have a very fussy bunch. lol. There was a lot of delay in getting the planes out and I believe CW rejected them originally as not good enough. Still get issued too soon perhaps?
  22. Well, its definitely not selling it to me Ben. I'm all but certain its not what I am looking for now and so will look for a small foamy I can stick in a rucksack and fly in a small park or field.
  23. I haven't forgotten this thread, but still yet to make a decision. I'm now wondering whether an Eflight or Parkzone micro / ultra micro might be a better option. Main issue though it seems is that the 4 ch options all seam to be warbirds or modern fighters rather than anything slightly slower or easier to fly. Any thoughts / experience of these?
  24. Frank. I had offered up the mini spirit as an alternative to explore that angle. Still swaying towards the mini Wot 4 at moment, but would love to here if anyone has got one yet.
  25. I've got the opportunity to get myself something small to take in the caravan when we go away and want peoples views please. General rules are that it needs to be fairly easy to fly (I'm at Cert A test level) and 4 channel. The mini WOT 4 has just hit the shelves, so like the idea of that one (as about to start flying my new Foam E WOT 4) but disappointed it is not foam. Someone at the club recently bought a mini Spirit, but I am guessing that may be a step too far for my flying capabilities. The alternative is to build something, but with a Black Magic on the board already and a junior 60 waiting for a restoration, I'm a little reluctant to start another quite yet. Any thoughts?
