  1. Excellent spot Danny. That's not something I had even noticed yet so you've just saved me many hours of head scratching and trying to figure out why it's not worked!! Same plan as nick for me then! Gary
  2. Hi Nick, I've had models in the last where I have been unsure of they're integrity somewhere and this generally results in them never being flown. I agree with you plan, just get it sorted now and you will feel more comfortable. I'm going to go for the RDS system for ailerons and maybe flaps but not decided on them yet. This is new to me so looking forward to trying it. Danny Fenton has some great tips on the RDS if you look through his threads and videos if anyone is interested. Good luck with the Surgery Nick!
  3. Great update Nick and great info for anyone tackling the build. It is certainly not a simple build but not beyond the wit of man, especially when you have help like this. I've started planking the fuse and have done most of the top half. This area would be a real challenge without planking but interesting about the sides as they seem suitable for sheets so I'll have a play about and see how it works out
  4. Haha I had a similar thought Nick "what if I want to build another one in the future?" I have managed to restrain myself so far!
  5. For anyone who has seen the progress (especially by Nick) and is tempted by this build, someone is selling the laser cut kit, canopy and cowl on BMFA classifieds for a very reasonable price Gary
  6. Secondary question, anyone have experience of the 4 max servos? They have a standard size, metal geared servo putting out 8kg+ for £11 I really like 4 max stuff so expect these to be good but that seems quite cheap
  7. Thanks guys. Lots of great information there. The Savox one looks like a a 1kg increase in torque for little gain in price (almost a 25% increase on the 148) so those will work well for a bit extra power for the elevator and flaps but will stick with standard analogue in general.
  8. Thanks guys, seems like digital is unnecessary They're for my BT P-47 so a medium sized warbird around the 15lb mark. The other question is the 4 max servos and what they are like?
  9. I'm tempted to try some of the Jx digital servos from Bangor because I've heard good things about them but I have never used digital servos before. Any thoughts on using digital over analog? Gary
  10. I think that weight is about ideal Nick. There is loads of wing area on the P-47 so that will work out well and enough weight to not be bounced about too much. I'm sure I've asked this before but what paint scheme are you going for? After seeing your photo, I thought I'd put mine together to see how far behind you I am. Turns out I just need a few more bits of detail and I've caught you up.... When I say detail, i mean 90% of the build... My goal is to try and get the P-47 to at least the glassed stage before April as I am away for approx 8 months with work. I have also decided that I am going to design and build a shed to store my planes in as the garage is just too damp over the winter. Hopefully, if my plans are correct, I can build one that should keep the majority of the dampness out and it will be insulated to keep the temperature a little more stable, especially since the planes will be there for the best part of a year untouched. Gary
