  1. FRED Rudder from full size plans. Note that the forward section is removed if using the fixed fin. Grid is 2" squares.
  2. Percy, pic of the top of the tailplane, it's currently stored upside down in the roof. The forward fin mount is 11 inches from the leading edge.
  3. Percy, Sorry but I can't fit fin and rudder to FRED as he's trapped in my workshop by an engine less MG. The horizontal tail has to be fitted to mount the vertical fin and that's not possible at this time. I rigged the rudder/fin in my lounge, hope this helps. Note that on the real FRED the rudder hinges to the stern post of the fuselage and the fin fastens to the top of the horizontal tail. This makes it all removable  with the horizontal for road towing. 4. I was in Tullahoma last month and stopped by to visit Eric Clutton. He is a hale and hearty 90 year old and still building and flying model aircraft. He has a number of 4 engine WWII bomber models that he flies. Sadly his previous FRED model was destroyed in an accident, is it possible that we can get Eric a complimentary copy of Lindsay's plans? I would be happy to provide Eric's address and reimburse postage via Paypal. Thanks, Mike FRED NC808MY
  5. If you are talking about the fixed fin modification designed by Eric Clutton I can scan and post a copy of the full size FRED drawing amendment.
  6. Happy New Year to all FRED lovers. Here is a scale side view of FRED from my copy of the full size plans. It nicely illustrates the wing airfoil section and the Volkswagen engine thrust line. If you look at my previous pictures of Eric's original aircraft, it now has a Continental A-65 engine installed. For Stephen: The wing has a fixed incidence angle but it does pivot back for road towing, drawing shows the position of the wing when stowed for towing.
  7. Eric in the cockpit for colour/size/position etc. Note piano wire cross bracing behind Erix's head, not possible to lean head back on headrest. Edited By Michael Young 1 on 29/12/2016 19:58:06
  8. Colin, obviously we are like minded, my 68 BGT has been modified so that it can compete with the modern day econoboxes. I installed a 3.4 Litre V6 crate engine that was used in the Chevrolet Camaro. It has a 4 barrel carb and headers, so I guess about 200 h.p. 5 speed manual transmission and uprated front brakes. I am retired from full time flying, at 60 I reverted to the FE seat and ended up hauling boxes around the world in a B 747, I still instruct part time and hope to fly FRED soon. Very hot and humid summer, followed by the Hurricane and its been blustery since. Hope to fly FRED soon. busier retired than when working!
  9. Colin, yes that's the real FRED on the trailer. The photo was taken the day I picked up FRED from Eric, sadly Eric did not want to part with the model but I have obtained a set of plans to build my own. Problem is time, have a model railway, a classic MGB and FRED to play with.
  10. Here are a couple of photos of Eric Clutton's diesel powered mini FRED. built from Quiet and Electric Flight plans by Colin Reynolds. Eric is known as Dr. Diesel here in the US for his business supplying diesel engines etc.
  11. Two more pictures Flight Instrument mode. and the Eric's original panel that I removed for the update. Sorry my camera date needs to be re-set.
