  1. I made an electric version of Mike Bells Hangar Monkey from his excellent plans published in Oct '16 RCME. Have done 6 flights and I am very happy with its performance. The electric conversion required a bit of nose weight adding and it may have been better to put the servos nearer the CG rather than rear mounted (Mike did suggest this option!) The ventilated spinner seems to do its job.
  2. Hi I started making an electric Hanger Monkey back in October last year and posted a message on the 10th Oct. My photos didn't come through so I thought that now I have finished the plane and had half a dozen flights, I would have another go. This is my home made jig, the battery shelf and hatch are shown Pulling the tail together Ready for covering I made one or two modifications, mainly to provide cooling for the motor and esc. I had to put in about 80grams of lead in the cowl - electric motors are lighter than ic engines. It flies very well with the elite power 46, which has been giving up to 730watts. Thanks for publishing the plans, it's been my first large model built from plan and has been an ideal learning curve for me. Cheers
  3. Hi Mike and 'gangster'. Really liked the retro look of the monkey and I started making it a few days ago, I am attempting an electric conversion using an e flite power 46 with a 4s lipo. I have been putting together the fuselage with a sloping battery tray and removable hatch having upgraded F3 to 1/4 inch ply. Hope to find enough room under the tray for the 60 amp ESC. Having looked at your photos Mike I made a fuselage jig and will try and attach a copy of current progress. Good luck to anyone having a go!
