  1. Does it really matter what the power source of the vehicle was!

As for the building not being firesafe, really its a car park no residence above or below, no business properties above or below. You cannot prevent all potential sources of fire or explosion nor can you proscribe all 100% extinguishing systems, or even containment.

Looks like an accident until or if its ever found otherwise.

As for Rishi's minions, draw it in Matty B.

  2. Recognisable and repeatable fault which resulted in 3rd party damage I think would certainly give companies cause for concern as legal remedies I'm sure would be pursued.

I am not aware of any manufacturer being subjected to such, unless of course someone knows different.

I am not a fan of 'smart everything connected to everything' . Its to easy for these things to be manipulated.

As regards software, when memory was cheap software had to be compact and precise, certainly it wasn't always error free, now with memory being cheap and pretty much unlimited, in my view, software seems more error prone. That quite naturally being human error which in a lot of cases results in 'dented' models. I have certainly been a victim of my own dumb thumbs.

An engineer, a mathematician and an accountant go to a work interview.

First up is the engineer. The employer asks him, "What is 2+2?"
The engineer, a little confused, answers, "4 of course."
The employer thanks him and calls in the mathematician.

Again, he asks, "What is 2+2?"
The mathematician states, "With high certainty, it’s around 4."
The employer thanks him and calls in the accountant.

    Again, he asks, "What is2+2?"
The accountant looks around, stands up and closes the curtains before he bends down and whispers: "What do you want it to be?"

Na same accountant who looked after Carrillion

  4. Councils sell on the Voter Register, these are readily available in local libraries, however try and look through one. You have to ask the Librarian to access and then tell them the name or the street you wish to look at. You just cant bowl in and ask for a copy to peruse. At least not in the libraries I have been in, which are disappearing at an alarming rate, not solely down to cost cutting but lack of use.

  5. If its any conciliation I got done 37 in a 40, on a bloody dual carriageway, crazy. £80 speed awareness via Zoom. 56 years of clean licence. Will be asking if it has to be declared next time I insure, bearing in mind any excuse to bump up a premium.

  6. The right wing press, the tories and cl8mstr change. Stock answer to any problem.

If you want an electric car get one. If not dont. Pros and cons to everything. But this thread as with certain others wonders off into naa na naa from either side. When you all sit together and discuss it as adults with true facts and figures, stats analysed in honest fashion with at least an smidgen of open minds that would be grand. Until then i will leave you all in the playground. And you can collect your own toys from under your prams...

  7. Don i appreciate your earlier career, but in all things, parked cars, mechanical failure, wayward chidlren and dogs also cause accidents. Movement will always cause damage injury and death. Like all rhings stats dont reveal the truth of the situation unless queried properly. Again we loose sight of any benefit without well constructed data and honest analysis

  8. Dick W: i was wondering when someone was going to mention the diversity factor.

One othe thing comes to mind as well 'out of phase issues'.

That is also calculated in the 'diversity factor'.

It waz certainly calculated when installing machinery in factories, in particular those with their own or substations close bye.

  9. Matty I love your passion, and when we had an empire (note no capital e) maybe we could have done a lot more with easing the issue. But as a small country with limited resources, capability and influence our contribution or lack of won't make a great deal of difference.

That doesn't mean I am not for trying but as stated by John every country has too come together. League of Nations??, now United Nations and we still have wars.

Constructive dialogue, reasoned debate practical affordable solutions, and affordable isnt just about money. Revolutions don't do it either.

We all have a part to play, but until there is true debate not a lot will change.

  10. Kicking the can down the road.

I dont think so. A bit of reflection and some proper debate wouldnt go amiss. I cannot afford an alternative heat source and legislation to fine landlords!!!

Central government and councils should be plastering their infrastructure with solar panels and wind turbines.

And its all very well to say that charging ability will make its way into the Countryside and smaller villages and hamlets.

Ask the same villages and hamlets were their faster broadband is.

The green levy has really worked!

  11. Eric, I assume you the house insurance company were the one you were looking to insure your car with. I would hate to think you couldnt get house insurance because of your age.

As an aside I dont think company policies over ride legislation.
