  1. Good morning Simon, Many thanks for the info, my middle wing has some sort of round bung in it to cover the screw hole so I guess I will just enlarge that hole and put an edging around the opening. That way I can add a pilot and blame him for the flying errors C of G just ahead of the interplane strut so that should be fairly straightforward to get at. Need to get a couple more pups finished first then on to the triplane, might sneak in the Nieuport ahead of it as I have the Flair one and Balsa USA version.
  2. I have a very tidy one of these that I bought recently, it needs an engine up front and I have a very strong OS 40 four stroke, OS 48 FS or a Saito 45 to choose from. Mine has no hole in the wing for the pilot so I could do with any references to that on the plan if one of you has that detail, also the C go G if possible would be very much appreciated. I've got a fair few of the flair scouts, they are great kits and the biplanes fly really well IMHO. It would be fun to fly them together, I've just finished the second of my four pups, once they are all up together I plan to get them all in the air at the same time, with the help of some cub mates.
  3. Not sure how you got on with your search Robert? I'm still using my Futaba 35mHz gear to great effect but need some more channel 55 dual conversion crystals. I may have some other pairings you could have if you are still looking? Paul

  5. Is the braided shielding around the HT lead very effective? I'm not sure why the ground connection for the spark plug body isn't via the engine casing like a car engine is? It would be easy to have a simple ring tag under one of the head of one of the mounting bolts. I've been advised to put ferrites on the ignition battery cable. Up to now I've only used glow motors, maybe I should just stick a big Laser up front and stick with what I know
  6. Some of you may recall that I asked last year about the merits of 35mHz against 2.4gHz radio gear. As a result of the responses I got I've stuck with my trusty Futaba 35mHz stuff with no issues since. I have a couple of really tidy Futaba T9CP transmitters with synthesiser modules fitted and have found them very good. There is no channel conflict in our club as only a couple of us still use 35 and have dedicated channels of our own. I'm looking to put a petrol engine into a 1/4 scale Pup and already have a Stearman model with a DLE 20 fitted so wondered if there is any advantage to fitting say an frsky 2.4 module as far as interference resistance is concerned? Is there any difference in using a PPM or PCM 35mHz receiver as far as ignition interference is concerned? Title says 3mHz in error    Edited By Paul james 8 on 23/04/2018 17:55:01
  7. No shortage of "damp air" at the moment! Would it get through the covering though?
  8. I have a slight warp in the wings Jon (not personally, the Pup) which I'm hoping a fellow club member is going to give me a hand to sort out. I'm not looking for a competition level model either, which is why the DB one is fine for me, I guess it could be called "stand off scale". Should look great in the air either way! I have 3 of the Flair Puppeteers, two of which need work to sort them out, I've also got a Sterling Stearman and a Great Planes Stearman to get up and running this year. That and a growing number of customer engine rebuilds should keep me busy. When the plans turn up I will take a view on the struts and rigging Bert, they will give me loads of info on how to proceed with the build. Still need a pair of vintage 1/4 scale wheels
  9. Hi Jon, Good to hear from you, hope the move goes smoothly as possible for you. If you find an old Laser kicking about that needs a bit of work to put it right that would fit into mine do please let me know. Either that or one someone is trying to sell that wouldn't require me taking out a second mortgage! Good advice on the rigging, I may make something up to help spread the load a bit. Get yours done and we can do a bit of formation flying.
  10. A Laser V twin would indeed be awesome but alas out of my price range Alan, unless a reasonably priced one crops up. I didn't know that Jon was moving factories, I emailed him just last night to ask about some parts as I have a small collection of single cylinder Lasers. It will have to be the 2 stroke petrol engine unless we can find a Laser that needs a good home One here apparently running on an OS 120? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=plQA2iwCz9Q&t=231s Edited By Paul james 8 on 10/04/2018 09:57:42
  11. Thanks Geoff, shouldn't be too much trouble keeping the receiver and aerial well away from the ignition on a model of this size. Will probably have room on the outside face of the front bulkhead for the ignition unit.
  12. Took your advice Geoff and gave Richard a call, very helpful chap so looks like we have some plans sorted! I've had a better look at the wings and found the hole positions for the split pins just visible under the covering on the top wing so just a matter of tracing them back on the bottom wing. Got to clear some working space now as I soon won't have an excuse to not get on with it. Still need a pair of vintage wheels if anyone has a pair going begging for a reasonable price.
  13. Had a pilot on standby for a few months prior to finding this model, he was intended for a Hannibal if I could have found one. Painting courtesy of Tony Austin!
  14. Not sure how to rig up the control wires on this doo hicky? Seem to be a couple of additional pivot point fixings right at the top in this picture?
  15. Postman Pat just turned up with a box that looked interesting..............................
