  1. Does anyone have any information on Clive Weller please? I heard that he has passed away. Any details of funeral etc would be welcome. Thank you J. Rogerson
  2. I think heat is the answer. I have never done exactly what you are trying, but have removed decals from other items. You really need to try an area to practice on, if that is possible. Use a heat gun, but from a distance away, not close up. The vinyl should go soft before the foam gets damaged. If you think a heat gun is too hot, use a hair drier, with the air intake blanked off a little, to increase the temperature. As with all things, tread carefully.
  3.     How sad to see one of our finest Aeromodellers taken from us.  But that's what life's all about. As we get older we lose our friends, but, I don't think we've really lost David. I'm sure he's up there guiding our aeroplanes around the sky, and helping when in trouble. I know, for many years, even though I only knew him from chatting to him at the shows, I could always ring him for advice..........which he freely gave, no airs and graces. I heard a rumour that the Old Warden Meeting in May is going to be held as a tribute to the great man. If so, why don't we all make the effort and attend, and give him the send-off he so richly deserves. God's Blessings on you David, and all our condolences to your family. Jack Rogerson
  4. Hi Frederico, A couple of guys in our club built Mew Gulls many years ago, and they suffered from aileron vibration. Our answer was to fit balance weights to the ailerons, and increase the diameter of the torque rods from the centrally-mounted servo. People didn't use separate servos at the time, too expensive. Hope your one doesn't suffer from the same problem. Stackerjack.
  5. Please enter me for the draw, it's a beautiful place to visit, and an excellent show.
  6. Hi Craig Could you not go to your model club NOW, and ask for help?  It might save a lot of anguish.   If you don't know of a nearby club that will help, have a look on the BMFA website.       http://www.bmfa.org/clubs/clist.php Cheers Jack
  7. Hi Craig You mentioned flying into the sun, well, if you do, close one eye as the aeroplane approaches the brightest spot, then as it comes away, open your eye, and close the other one. If you plane gets too high, or too far away, the best thing to do is close the throttle. If you can't tell if it's coming or going, move the aileron stick quickly left, then right. If the plane goes first left, then right, it's going away from you. If it goes right, then left, it's coming towards you..............think about it for a minute.  Either way, it will end up going more or less the same way as it was before you gave the aileron command. Best of luck, but do try to get help from an experienced pilot.
  8. Hi Al, thanks for your comments. The reason I stripped down the carb. was due to the apparent seizure on the previous outing. I can't understand what could have happened between fling it so successfully so many times, then all of a sudden it plays up like this. I,ve changed the fuel, from what I normally use, which is straight 80/20 Methanol/Castor Oil, ( I've never used Nitro in an engine yet)I've fitted a new plug, ran it on my test bench with a totally different set-up, plumbing etc. and it doesn't make any difference. I've been flying RC for 37 years, and this one has be baffled! I suppose I could always go back to my favourite OS engines. Jack
  9. Thanks once again for you ideas, however, the question of fuel foaming doesn't really arisa, because it performs exactly the same way on the bench, and that is with a completely different set-up from the aeroplane, and one that I've used for years. I will try a new plug tomorrow, and report the results. The fuel is OK, as although I don't fly from water very often, I do fly from grass 2 or 3 times a week. I can't understand why the engine gets so hot, I'm sure that is part of the problem, but even when running slightly rich, it still gets very hot.
  10. Sounds like a good idea Graham, Do you ever fly from Stubbers Lake?
