  1. I’m not sure what’s given the impression that I’ve recommended adapting anything other than an unobtainable bearing.  I thought I’d clarified that in my reply to JD8!

  2. I don't know much about the Webras but a couple of makers have used non-standard bearings in the past (at least one was a mixed Imperial/metric specification).  Advice from Irvine was to source a bearing with the correct outside diameter and thickness and a larger bore - then make a sleeve to adapt it.

  3. Was this what you were thinking of John?

Effective immediately we can no longer accept engines back to the factory for service. Other companies offer rebuild services and they should be contacted for your servicing needs. An exception will likely be made for Laser inline engines as I am the only person who knows how to assemble them, but I will discuss this with their respective owners as we go along.

  4. Thanks for the heads up KC but although Simon has asked for advice on a specific question on a separate thread, this was his introductory post and I don’t see any real reason to close it and deny anyone the opportunity to add a welcome message. We’re supposed to be the friendly forum after all!

For clarification, Simon doesn’t appear to want to take up the hobby and was seeking help in disposing of a relative’s model related items. Who knows though - Simon might just get the bug himself!

  5. I’d already guessed that last point Craig.  The joys of picking gravel out of knees…

Welcome to the forum - hopefully someone local to you will give you some advice about suitable clubs.

  6. Update as promised:

Sorry… Thank you for your patience, we’ve spoken to the tech guys and due to the increase in spammers on the site, it’s affected the protection levels, making it hard to log in. They’ve made some adjustments their end which should have solved the problems. Do let us know though if you’re still experiencing any issues.

    Fingers crossed for next weekend!

  7. Where is the blue receiver from?  If it’s a 2.4 GHz receiver as it appears to be, I take it you’re aware that each make is incompatible with others.

I wonder if the transmitter is based on a multi protocol offering.  If so, and the blue receiver was part of the original package, it might need the protocol changing somewhere in the programming.

  8.

The same is true of valve springs. The spec is going to be held by the company we buy them from. Getting more is as simple as phoning up and ordering them so there is no worry there.

For clarification Jon - are MSL going to hold/possibly replenish the stock of valve springs or were you saying that anyone would be able to order a couple of them from the supplier?

  9. Quite right and an excellent example of sensible application of rules.  We have the same rule but we worked out a plan for the one off event involving all models flying steady circuits, split into 3 flight levels with the longest duration/more experienced pilots taking off first and flying at the high level.

We've also made exceptions for multiple models such as Arrows Hawks and Durafly Vampires flying in (sometimes rather loose) formation.

  10. Hi Neil and welcome to the forum. I’m sure I’m speaking for many members here (and probably most of the longer term ones) in recording my thanks and appreciation of your superb design and vision in bringing Laser engines to the market.

I hope my Lasers will last me out!

  11. I suspect that the lack of response to the OP’s actual question is due to the enormous area requested.  Perhaps, Enforcer, if you’re a bit more specific you might get some suggestions?
