Use Aspin it’s a bit more expensive but worth it
Own mix with expensive 98 octane and Motul 710 oil, less than 8€ for 5 litres Aspen 20€ up for the same, as I use around 2 litres of motul a year work out the difference,,,

Yes maybe I will fly my twin Saito .45s powered Bristol Beaufighter to prove you wrong,,,
It has been flying since April 2015, only 6 years,,?
-
Doesn't it have a woodruff key?, i can't remember but it never happened to me,,
I will strip it down and have a look before I bin it,,
ps it isn't the beam mount one,,
-
you mean slipping on the crankshaft ?.
-
No offence taken Jon, but I think that my crashes were due to a bad synchronisation of the engines,,
I don't make pilot errors,,?
Ps, I do put wash out on a lot of my planes for the first flights and limited aileron and elevator throws,,

I flew it this afternoon, it's fast and really noisy,so I think a good 15cc petrol is more than enough, the outlet on the silencer
has an inside diameter of 19mm I was thinking of making a Db stopper as I can't seem to find anyone in France selling them, what are your thoughts and the hole diameters in one ?.
thanks Paul

Sorry Jon, but it never stalled on take off when it was electric powered, so probably too heavy on methanol,,,

Try 0.375 x 0.875 x 0.281 (3/8 x 7/8 x 9/32) inches. This is a standard imperial size with a conversion from the fractional size rounded to 2 decimal places for the convenience of those of a decimal persuasion!
Thanks,, silly me ?

What is it's exact size, Michel has a couple of old OS four stroke heads,,
Ordered the bearings for a Saito FA 100 today, funny sizes,
one 6903 = 17mm x 30mm x 7mm
the other R6 0.38 x 0.88 x 0.28,, which I have no idea how they get that for a 9.53mm x 22.23mm x 7.14mm bearing,,,

I may have been a bit hasty condemning the Skyraider with a 15cc petrol, I checked the rpm on it's first take off with a master 14 x 8 at 7.200 rpm, then this morning I dug out what it gave me on my Yuki Model 'Zero', 8.600 rpm, from 1.6hp down to 1hp so it should be ok with a 15cc petrol,,

The vibrations of the engine continue !!!
The wing centring dowel and the wooden block with the threaded plastic nut both broke away from the Starboard wing, with the two flap sevros' gone' it now loops, but I have had enough of this rubbish motor, it is going to be binned and the 20cc one is going in and the rockets back onto the wing.
unless I can find a cheap alternative,, ( no asp )

The chap who advertises on the BMFA site fits "timeserts" I believe. Once installed a tool is screwed through them that expands the bottom of the thread to seal and lock it in position, preventing it from unscrewing with the plug . Helicoil repairs can unscrew and leak , they also need fixing with a suitable adhesive to seal them in some applications
Have you his address and what sort of prices,A club member needs a couple fitting one in an OS 20 AX the other a Saito 100,,

I have only seen 2 helicoils fitted to models to replace the plug thread and both failed, I made a couple of inserts in brass and they are still going strong,,,

Crap, rubbish, hang it up in the garage or burn it !!!!
I built one, 2 x .40's it used to spin just after take-off, luckily both times into bushes and trees, then 2 x electric motors,
56?? with 2200 3s battery's, a bit better, it would 'flick' when trying to loop, more and less lead in the nose, bigger motors this went on for years, I finally gave it to the local flying club where it is hanging on the wall, the best place for it !
I did build the Brian Taylor one, that flys well, I have a Bristol beaufighter with twin Saito .45 specials which flys like a dream,,
Pictures of plan and plane,,,

Not a rubbish Helicoil then,,,,
A club member bought one of those kits with a special tap and like yours a threaded flanged insert, for a 55cc petrol engine.

Not something that I am familiar with, only have a glider, but as a replacement for those brittle brackets would a nylon (or plastic) kitchen chopping board be a suitable base for cutting out your own replacements?
I also use the 'white' professional stuff, it is strong enough for a vibrating Rcgf 20cc copy / clone,,,

Just found your reply Don,
Yes i see that they have 'slipped' in some of that evil ethanol stuff, ?my Yamaha instruction book indicates that under any circumstances should it use Ethanol
in the petrol !, so thanks to the greens and the EU I will eventually get problems with it,,,☹️

Just found your thread David, I have a small lathe if next time you need to borrow one ,,
As for the plug insert, I hope that you have more luck than Pierre, his OS 120 was sent to the french bloke and
the first time he took the plug out the thread came with it,,,?
-
Thanks to David who gave me a couple of canopy latches, so that's sorted.
-100 grams, I took out the futaba S3001 flap servos and blanked off the holes,,,
And run the iron over the original film to get rid of the air bubbles, aerodynamically every bit helps,,,
-
Ps,,, It's fixed with 2 x 3mm screws that I keep loosing, maybe a glider hatch sprung slide bolt 'watsit' ( sorry forgot it's name )
is the way to go,,
any suggestions,,,,
-
-
I have taken the rockets off, - 260 grams, and less drag, I will see how it fly's, and maybe later on the Futaba S3001 flap servos another 100 grams less,,,,

Yes in the morning so that the sun is behind us, and we crash in the trees to it make it safer,,,?
No as you can see over the runway and then behind the trees,,,, Never over the car park and pits,,,

Ok not the cleanest of jobs, I am sorry to the real scale builders if these photos give you nightmares, it is not intentional and no planes other than my Skyraider were Hurt, Damaged, Tortured, or other,,,,
I brought the engine forward 1 cm and in went the Pitts silencer, the gaping hole was from the old exhaust and yes it's going to stay that way, ?
