  1. It's not my birthday, perhaps I can have it in time for Xmas.  John
  2. Thanks fof this great thread. I am just about to start on my first plan build, Supermarine Walrus. It is so ugly I just fell in love with it. It's in depron which I chose because I always hated using tissue paper and dope. I was all fingers and thums and could never get a smooth finish. Solartex is new to me and quite expensive so I've been wary of trying that. I also wondered where to cut my copied parts and appreciate all the advice. I am considering pasting all my cut outs onto cardboard to ease the cutting out process. Does this sound like a good idea or a waste of time? PS Any advice on sculpting pink/blue foam would be useful. Thanks again, John
  3. I was going through the free plans that I have got with RCM&E with a view to plucking up the courage to attempt to build something, and was surprised to find that there is never an extimate of the balsa requirements to complete the model. I think this is very important as good model shops are thin on the ground these days and postage costs are high. For a beginner it is not easy to work out how much to buy from looking at the parts and many of us don't have any stocke left from previous builds. Does anyone else have any thoughts on this?
  4. Thanks Alistair for your remarks on Sanwa Tx's, I too have a Sanwa bought cheap as part of a starter set on e-bay (OK OK I know I shouldn't have but it's been allright so far). My only reservation about Sanwa comes from the fact that as few people in UK use them it is hard to get info about Rx and Servo compatibilty, particularly in regard to old and new Sanwa systems. I got a Sanwa RD6000 Sport and it seems to do everything the equivalent Futaba model does. Perhaps we should start a Sanwa users thread. PS I am a complete novice so would not presume to advise anyone on anything flying wise.

Sorry I am late replying Chris. My prop measures 12" but I have no idea how I find out the pitch. Most of the members I met at Tyldesly suggested a larger prop but I think I'll wait till I've flown it myself for some time and have some understanding of these things before making any changes. Havn't got the tools yet anyway. Sorry Gary, wouldn't presume to offer you any advice. All the best.

Hello Chris, glad to read your satisfaction wich Cardinal 177. Have just bouht one on e-bay with SC 91fs engine. Not yet joined club but took it to Tyldesly last week and was made very welcome and Richard flew it for me aerobatics and all. Unfortunately engine tended to cut out after several minutes (bubbles noted in fuel lines) so I may have to work on it. Anyone know where one can find instructions/manuals for plane / engine?
