  1. I went on both days. Shame about the weather on Saturday but Sunday was much improved although the wind was still strong and cold. Some absolutely amazing flying. Crowds of people on Sunday, hope this will be a regular venue, especially as I only live about 15 miles away. Pair of BAE Red Arrows stole the limelight. Shame Ali's LA7 "something in Russian"  had to land after 1 circuit, that was my favourite.
  2. How many servos can you connect to one receiver channel?   On my Mosquito there are 2 flaps in each wing connected by a complicated rod and bell-crank system to a servo. I was thinking of modifying this by using a mini servo for each flap connected using y-leads to the flaps channel on the receiver. Can this be done or is 4 servos too many for 1 channel?
  3. You may be interested in my earlier thread asking the same question and the answers provided.  the link is; http://www.modelflying.co.uk/forum/forummessages/mps/dt/4/UTN/4542/V/6/SP/ I bought an AXI 2826/10 with Scorpion ESC and Pelikan3S 3300mAh LiPo I could copy the instructions if you are still interested.
  4. No! haven't quite finished it yet. Need to order some micro-servos for the wings and the motors, ESCs and battery. Have finished everything else though.
  5. Yes I probably would still buy one, in anycase there aren't that many Mossies about. I think I have rectified all the problems, it would have been nice to have been problem free. Had all the parts have been available as a CNC pack then it would be a superb model. If you could see the pilots you would laugh your socks off, don't think I will bother trying to get some better ones though. My fuselage problem may have just been a one off.
  6. Ah yes...most scale models you see seem to have only 2 bladed props which spoils their appearance, there are quite a few 3 bladed props available including the Master Airscrew series but I haven't seen much in 4's but I would prefer a 4. Thanks for the link  I will follow it carefully.
  7. I am building a 63" Blackhorse Mosquito with two AXI 2814/12 s and the well illustrated instruction manual shows the ESCs mounted in the engine nacelles and the Lipo mounted in the nose with long connecting wires (I estimate to be about 350mm). Is this likely to cause a problem?
  8. Yes Andy there were retracts in the box. Seem to be standard mechanical(blue in colour) with a push/pull rod actuator.  I was hoping to go to the LMA show as well, probably be a good site for radio control boats today! Have fitted servos for elevators and rudder, push rods tend to be a bit tight where they exit the fusey, bit of trimming required. Going to try to fit rudder and tail-wheel next. Need to order some micros for the wings. Retracts are a bit sloppy in their cut-out, so need to temporary fit the nacelles to make sure wheels are in correct positions when up and down. When using glue make sure your hands are extremely clean as I have noticed my model is getting badly marked my handling, fingerprints which wont clean off.  The pilots are awfull, going to remove mine if I can cut them out without damaging the cockpit canopy.
  9. I bought a set of plans, rad moulding, canopy and engine cowling from Traplet whilst at Barkston Heath. Has anyone built this model? I would like to know if there are any particular difficulties with the construction or any mistakes, I have noticed one on the plan where an imperial measurement is incorrectly converted to metric. I am keen to go electric on this one so what motor and prop sizes (3 bladed) can you recommend, has anyone else electrified theirs?  What retract systems have you installed, I would like to use air up/down.
  10. Seems to be well built at first glance. All CNC cut light ply and balsa covered with plastic film covering. However a few things, position of horn slots on flaps in wrong position, and worse the fuselage has a twist in it. Laying the fusey on the board with the wings level, the tailpane when positioned is about 20mm lower at one end! Managed to  tweak it a bit but now have problems with the fin and rear steerable wheel. Haven't got very far with it so far. Servos are all different sizes. I think after some careful work it will be ok in the end. Shame really all the parts are so accurately cut, just glued together by idiots. The trader who supplied actually built one and he said it flew really well so I am encouraged to finish it. Perhaps mine was a one off.
  11. The Beaufighter isn't a kit, it was built up from plans bought from traplet. The plan code is MW2605.
  12. Has anyone built the 63" ws Mosquito from Blackhorse models? Bought one at Rufforth, just started to put it together.
  13. Thanks for the info. Looks like I will be using the 2826/10 then! I assume that you used the PH5 professional prop holder (collet type). Did you use the ripmax spinner (which seems abit naff) or a commercial spinner. I am not very impressed by the cowling especially where it meets the spinner. I will certainly be strengthening the motor mounting, my first impression was that it didn't seem very sturdy.
  14. The instruction book recommends a 600 class brushless motor. How does this equate to available motors? I would like to know what motors you have fitted and how well they flew or what you can recommend, I do like the AXI range. The book also says "a well proven and successful set of hardware is included at the end of these instruction" but there is nothing printed, I have no idea what size prop to use either. And what a strange colour silver! may have to repaint it grey.
  15. Thanks for the info, looks like I will be sourcing some Hitecs. Not sure if I can get away with just one servo as the plane is a Spit and the angles of the retracts and push rods look a bit awkward. The retracts are self-locking and there is quite a large amount of movement in the pushrod at either end of the stroke before the leg starts to move in an arc so I think it won't be too much of a problem to set up.
