  1. I’ve done some sanding and filling today, I’m reasonably happy with it. The elevator was sealed and sander then given a layer off glass cloth. seemed to go on really well. I’m on with the cockpit and canopy now.
  2. Ive found the backend very difficult especially with the absence of some permagrit files. I ended up with all my planking flush with f10. So I had to make a complete exhaust. I simply glued together some hard balsa block and stuck it to f10.. Then I shaped it to a rough profile, again most people are all doing it slightly different. so after looking at pictures and various blogs I finally got somewhere close. As for the the inner round hole, being an electrician I attacked it with my 51mm metal hole saw. It nearly ended in tears so I don’t condone this method but it worked for me.
  3. To be honest the way I read the plan was that the rear end of the cheeks where close to the fin. Leaving a bigger gap at the front. In the end I used my judgment and went for what just looked right. Got to make the exhaust tomorrow.
  4. Thanks Dirk, I will go for that. Very helpful 👍🏻 I’m getting closer to the glassing. There is light at the end of the tunnel!
  5. I’m stuck a little on the fillets that go either side of the fin. How much do they actually splay out as on the plan it looks a lot but on various build blogs it seems to vary. Also is there a dimension (width) for the rectangular bit that sits on top of the exhaust at its extreme? Thanks Andy
  6. I’ve made a little more progress now as my workplace has closed for now. i sanded a little of the fuz, indeed they do come up well. I have Been working on elevator and actuator. I cut the Slots for the piano wire and checked the fit before glueing.   I managed to get one of the sides Sanded and shaped with reasonable success.   i Installed the bell crank, notice in my pictures the grey spacers. The spacers where left over from electric props and where a perfect fit.   still a lot of worke to do 😢     Edited By Andrew Edmead on 30/03/2020 22:37:28 Edited By Andrew Edmead on 30/03/2020 22:41:44
  7. Hi Phil. Couple of questions, I noted somewhere that you can build the moving elevator with or without dihedral, Is it just a scale feature? Also can you give me any tips how to ensure I fit the tail actuator perfectly level? Thanks for updating your blog, watching with interest. Andy
  8. Thanks Chris, I have gone for the lightest one I could find as it was mentioned you could use film if you wanted. I went for a 2m pack so hopefully that will do me. I'm also following your blog closely, great stuff, well done. Andy
  9. Hi, what weight glass should I buy and how much do you think is needed to finish a sabre? Andy
  10. Below is From Martins blog. Before joining the two fuselage halves, be sure to add the wing bolt plates and the assembled battery box, along with the tailplane bellcrank assembly. The rear slot for the actuating rod is not machined into F15 as not everyone will choose to use the SLEC item. Cut the rear slots into F15 to suit your bellcrank. Dry assemble the sides until you are happy with the fit.
  11. Hi Phil I’ve been following your blog as we are at similar stages of the build. I’ve read Martin’s gamma blog, and he said before joining the fuz halves you need to do the battery box, wing bolt plate and bell crank. I understand how you’ve been able to omit the box at this stage but you didn’t mention the bell crank for the elevator. Can I leave the bell crank until after joining or are you doing something different? hope that makes sense Andy
  12. So I’ve started the other side of my the fuz now. I made the stringers longer , this helped to keep the planks pinned down. I assembled the fuz last night and started planking today. I hopefully will be ready to join the two halves soon. Still a lot of work to do. Pics attached, the use of pins will please those with an ocd about using the same coloured pins.
