  1. Posted by Cuban8 on 13/11/2019 12:34:45: As always, a value judgement by the individual as to what one is prepared to pay. I don't worry too much about delivery charges these days, I shop around of course as one or two on-line shops are a bit on the heavy side compared to some. Depending on what it is in terms of size and weight, £20 for delivery would bit much say for a servo but for a large box, maybe a kit, then the bother and expense of a lengthy drive and one's time does come into play if you don't have a model shop nearby (as most of us don't these days). I ordered a gyro from Banggood yesterday, first time I've used them - postage was a couple of quid, tracked and insured 5-10 day delivery which I thought was pretty reasonable coming from the other side of the planet. Dispatched this morning according to their email. If like my first and last Banggood purchase, I got hit with tax and the £12 handling fee. The Item was a RF module and £12 ,thought that was below the tax threshold? to much hassle to question. Wont order from asia again.
  2. Hi Geoff, really enjoying this build, i am a newb so loads of great stuff here to learn from. I would like to comment on the Slec jig, I got one of those and find it not that great. The plastic uprights are not vertical! at first I thought I was tightening the bottom to tight to the board but ruled that out. Have no idea why the tops flair out
  3. Regards costs, 250w running for 24hrs,is that not around £1?? I must admit the Ebac was a biggish unit,20l and I did not really notice a high cost.
  4. I was wary of Dehumidifiers but tried a small one a few years back and was surprised the amount of water it removed. This was a single room size,so I did a search online and Ebac was recommended on some sites ,so got a 4 room size machine, When it worked it worked very well BUT just after warranty the performance dropped badly. After taking the case off I was surprised how shoddy the machine was put together so will not go with Ebac again. I think I paid in the region of £300 ,do not want to have this happen again, Anyone using something they can comment or recommend? I know the best thing to do is open windows but its not always possible.
  5. I have found Slec first class. wood always excellent BUT for me its the next day delivery, always comes next day, well packaged.
  6. Once again thanks very much for all the help, I am new at building so the set up is new also. The build is nothing difficult ,it is a "mini Frantic" its from the "avicraft" stable, this model is a single wing Panic basically. large control surfaces.
  7. Thanks guys, I know its hard to comment on something that you can not see and each set up will be different BUT with these 19g servo`s I have the horns vary 1" to 2 1/4 ". When/why would you pick the smaller over the larger dia horns, because I could use any of the 3 supplied different sizes.
  8. I have never had to work out where to fit servos in a model before. I need to fit 2 servos close together for rud and ele. The fuse is fairly narrow so tight to work in. I want to try and get the placement right first go and I can see the only reason I would get this wrong would be getting the servo horn landing at a good distance to allow some adjustment of holes inward and outwards. So what I am trying to say badly is, if I get the linkage rod sitting in the correct position should I be looking at getting the middle of horn for connection BUT saying that what length of horn is correct??? that's hard to say I know. for instance I just pick up aileron and rudder horns from my LHS ,i got these because they looked "about" the right size and the shop only had them or 1/4 scale looking one! I just thought i would start in the centre hole and adjust if needed. Woud i do the same with the servo horn. Use what came with the servo and aim for centre hole? Cor, sorry for the rambling, hard to describe that.
  9. I asked a question and was pointed to this great post. I have seen the picture where the control wire/cable is run straight through the servo horn eye. Is this ok? my loop kit came with wire,i was going to use some sort of connector fro wire to horn conection. its only a 36" funfly self build.
  10. Trying to use a closed loop system on a funfly rudder. Two questions please, The supplied horn for the rudder is sort of Y shape. It fits into a slot that needs to be made. It can fit 2 ways, the 2 connections arms facing forward OR rearwards, which is correct. connections near the hinge OR away? Lastly, the rudder horn is about 15mm between wire connection points, what is the apx servo horn width connection? do I need to match the rudder horn OR adjust to get the right movement when installed? Very fiddly, I am not going to use this on ele for sure! thought I would give a go at closed loop. What is the advantage over pushrods?
  11. Sorry if this area is not foe this but really stuck! Looking to get a Sim, I now have a Laptop due to lack of space. The Laptop was middle range apx 2 years ago. Chip is intel I7 ,16 GB mem BUT inbuilt graphics. Looking at the sims most say to download latest drivers, I went to the device manager, found graphics card and did update driver. It said I have the latest driver, dated 01,09,2015! on intels site it shows a driver for the intel 5500 grapics 11,08 2019. This is a Lenovo Laptop does that mean it will not be using dedicated drivers, the one being used now is a intel driver. I was going to download the latest driver and try to install that way BUT did not want to mess the laptop up. Any info would be great please.
  12. Martin, you are correct. I did not clearly say about removing from the case.
  13. KC, I did make a woopsie on the rib holes. I forgot to enlarge the inboard ones. Rather than make a bad job trying to enlarge them I intend to have the hassle of taking the plugs off then thread. I know its a faff but I like extra unnecessary work : )
  14. Thanks guys, I am not a forward planner so have not even got any linkage stuff yet, not looked at aileron horn types etc. I don't know if I should wait and get all the stuff then do a layout OR just get on with making the servo rails and capping, going with the height being all of the servo horn showing. servo standing up,not flat on side.
