  1. Servo’s installed, I had to recess the engine bearers to give enough clearance for the servo arms, I’m thinking of using snakes as per the prototype, but maybe only to a couple of bellcranks, one each for the elevator and rudder, and then a pushrod to the elevators and closed loop for the rudder - we’ll see! 2. Hi Danny, dimensions are bang on what you have given
  3. I’ll check the measurements Danny, so far though all the other components match the plan pretty well exact, not that that is proving to be a good thing!
  4. Forgot to say that I had to add a 1/16” shim between the side panel upper and lower parts in order to match the plan view
  5. Hi Danny, yeah, just discovering the delights of the upper formers for myself!
  6. Equally strangely is that that is the sketch from the plan, goes to show the errors that had to be contended with in years gone by Ken
  7. Hi all, this will only be a sporadic posting place for when I find or do something that may be of mild interest to others building the Fury, there are far more skilled people already doing admirable builds on here. I’m going to fit a Laser 80 so marked it’s position on the plan, then modified the firewall to suit using 1/4 ply to maintain its rigidity, I’ve also added another layer of 1/8 ply at F2 where the undercarriage fits as I’ve enlarged the hole for the tank to accept a SLEC 14 ounce tank One thing I’ve noticed on the plan is the grain direction for the upper forward ‘longeron’ and I think some may have it going the wrong way I think some confusion has been caused by the upper and lower views on the plan It makes more sense to me to have the grain fore and aft so that’s the way it’s going on mine More later as it comes Ken
  8. To be fair Richard that review is almost 8 years old, lots of things will - or rather should - have changed since then, maybe find a more recent review if one exists? Ken
  9. Just found a later set of instructions that do have a clearer set up photo etc, so, even more my fault!
  10. Jon, the picture of the rear of the engine with the carb and exhaust fitted is quite small, at least it is on the data sheet I have, quite easily skipped over - I’m trying to make it not my fault!☺️,  any chance for it to be bigger or referred to in a better way? by the way, it WAS my fault! 11. Runs like a dream now! Starts first flick, ticks over nice and slow, lovely engine
  12. there I am, freshly built model with a lovely new Laser engine, all set up, throttle servo beautifully positioned and operating freely, new fuel recommended by Laser in the tank, fuel at the carb, lovely glow on the plug let’s go! - would have been absolutely perfect if I had the carb and exhaust in the correct positions from the start of the build! - it did sort of run backwards for a very short while! Ken
  13. Thanks Ron, It’s a Laser 180, went with that after a lot of reading forum posts across the net, will have a 20x6 prop to fly with, it’s not a lightweight!, 20+ pounds including all the lead from St Paul’s roof in the nose for balance, I have read that it’s not unusually heavy though Ken
  14. My DB Sport and Scale 1/4 scale Pup, only 10 years in the making!, just got to pluck up courage to fly it now (my first large model) Ken Edited By Ken Lighten on 29/09/2018 21:31:37 Edited By Ken Lighten on 29/09/2018 21:35:03
