  1. For sale is my unfinished laser cut kit build of a Peter Rake designed electric 67” wingspan Bristol F2b Fighter, it’s a good quality build and is at the covering stage which I’ve started, easily removed if wished, complete with servo’s in the wings (Emax metal gears) and motor already positioned (Turnigy Aerodrive 4250 410) comes with rolled plan, covering material I was going to use and remaining kit items plus plastic parts for exhausts. selling as am going to quit the hobby to continue other interests that are using up all my time! Collection only due to the fragile nature of it from Warboys Cambs (PE282TF) or can meet somewhere within 15 miles of that - £150
  2. My workshop has these fitted, replaced the existing tubes with the type of LED that doesn’t need the whole fitting replaced, just the starter, there is the added bonus that they are plastic rather than eggshell glass so, as I don’t have covers over them, hitting them with a wing isn’t messy! 3. I do the same as Peter, relatively easy to do after a practice go
  4. I shall do a lot more double checking of weight and balance position, I also was concerned about the rigging attachments, I have crimped a loop behind the gripper (I think as per the plan, too cold to go and check at the mo!) to prevent complete withdrawal of the cable. I still think the tail is over engineered in respect of the amount of wood and corresponding amount of glue required to assemble it so will probably, after double/triple checking my measurements etc, still replace it with a lighter version Ken
  5. a lot Jon!, I was aware of the weight shown by DB but wondered, if like a lot of these things, there was leeway. I shall make the new tail feathers and see what savings can be made, I think the original is quite over engineered considering there is bracing as per the full size, will try using carbon fibre spars and laminated outlines to reduce the woodwork currently employed, I have added a bit of detail (stitching etc) and painted it but didn't think I'd gone overboard with it Ken
  6. Hi all, my DB 1/4 scale Pup is ready to fly, I've checked the balance point using a vanessa rig and also using scales and calculation and both agree the same position, my concern is that to achieve this required an inordinate amount of lead to bring the point to within 1/2" of the recommended point, meaning the total weight is 24lb, I'm not happy at all with that but wondered if I'm being overly concerned. I do intend to possibly redo the tail plane and fin building it with a lot lighter more scale like structure which will in turn reduce the nose weight needed, but, as I say, am I being too cautious? 8. A good few years ago I enlarged this up to 60” span and flew it with an O.S.40fp, flew superbly till I buried it into the grass flying inverted low and fast (up is down and down is up!!), even had a photo of me and it in the hallowed pages of the RCM&E. Such a simple airframe, just make sure the c of g is in the right place Ken
