  1. Posted by Paul C. on 22/09/2018 08:41:29: Any plans to include a Mass Build get together , might be worth considering to reinvigorate the mass build that appears to have lost a little popularity over the last few years. Paul. Hi Paul, yes there are plans, it would seem a perfect place to do it. Again, stay tuned
  2. Right chaps, we have dates for the 2019 RCM&E fly-in. Keep the 13th – 15th September free and we hope to see you there. BMFA Buckminster; more details soon.
  3. I'd have to say all of it. My biggest problem is getting sidetracked, going off on a tangent and struggling to get back. Keeping my existing fleet airworthy is sometimes challenge enough and usually provides the perfect reason to avoid a nasty job. What is it they say? "Never put off till tomorrow, that which you can do the day after" ...Seems perfectly reasonable...
  4. This will be a pure fly-in, so no pre-arranged slots. Relaxed club flying will be the order of the weekend. Pop it on your list of activities Devcon.
  5. We've been missing the RCM&E fly-ins that the dedicated Greenacres lads and lasses used to run for us a few years back so we're planning another for 2019, but this time at BMFA Buckminster. With this in mind a small RCM&E contingent (that’ll be me and Beth) met with Manny on site for a recce. The verdict? It's absolutely perfect. We were massively impressed with the facilities and have started to get quite excited about the prospect of an event. Love the flying site, adore the hangar for evening gatherings and casual indoor flying, and the location is spot on. Anyway, we're hoping to finalise dates in the next week or two and will let you know as soon as we have something firmed up. Stay tuned.
  6. Hi Simon, I was just passing so I thought I'd pop in to say that it's lovely to see a Baronette build going on. I have a 30 year old example which I've been flying for about 15 years now and I still love it to bits. It gets a a bit of TLC every now and again and just keeps going. Flies beautifully on its O.S. 40FP. With a dustbin silencer you can barely hear it over the noise of the electric models. I'll keep an eye on your build. Graham
  7. Thanks Peter, as always they look to be terrific performers. Hitec flyer eh? I swear by mine.
  8. Hi Martin, I'll see if we can get Tony on here to answer your LiPo question. I can tell you that it went up on the small wheels and the fans looked like 5-blade (though I wasn't looking too closely).
  9. Up with the larks this morning to join the Tony Nijhuis Designs ‘Development & Testing Department’ (that’ll be Tony), for the maiden flight of the prototype Concorde. Now, I don’t know if it’s just me but models of Concorde always look as if they’re a Dutch Roll waiting for the pickle. Anyway, to cut a long story short, she flew a treat on four 50mm fans. There’s still work to be done but TN was suitably encouraged by the flight so development continues. Watch this space. Edited By Graham Ashby (Editor) on 29/06/2018 12:52:54
  10. That's a lovely place to be Martin, I can't remember the last time my workbench was like that. Empty workbench = clear conscience. Nice.
  11. Slightly off topic – I'm still enjoying your S.E.5. Peter. Just to let you know that it's safe and well.
  12. Hi Martyn, I certainly did – handed it to Tim at Weston Park
  13. Posted by Stephen Jones on 28/06/2018 20:29:05: That Sabre looks really well, especially the see through fin which allows you to see the other tail plane. Steve I noticed the reflection Steve but I hadn't noticed how well it matched the other side. Must be built true!
  14. As you can probably imagine the whole magazine handover ‘thing’ is a bit of a trying time but it seems to have gone quite smoothly and the August cover is currently speeding through the press having had a small design tweak. Stitching it together was a very surreal experience after three years away but one I thoroughly enjoyed. On with the next, then, and to stop David seizing up or enjoying himself he was dispatched to meet our Tony for a photo shoot with the next Nijhuis duo – a Cold War dogfight double. They flew beautifully so it looks as if publication (in the Special Issue) is almost assured. There’s plenty of power and with an AEO 50mm fan, 3S 1500mAh Li-Po and no undercart, these are eminently affordable, practical little models. You’ve got to hand it to him… Edited By Graham Ashby (Editor) on 28/06/2018 19:01:28
  15. Hi Kevin, I'm afraid I only have the one 'round' engine at the moment and it's spoken for so the S.E. is safe. I'm going to need a darn good duster when I unearth all the parts and I sold the planned engine so I will need another. Thanks for the welcome Graham
  16. Posted by Martin Harris on 09/06/2018 09:52:11: VK Models appear to be a going concern? The website was last updated in 2014 though... Camel info here... Edited By Martin Harris on 09/06/2018 10:05:12 Hi Martin, Yep, that's the one as far as I'm aware, although how similar the kits are after all these years I couldn't say. I should imagine that this would have been considered a good quality kit in its day. It's eminently buildable.
