  1. Thanks for the replies. I have checked the valve hisses when opened etc and the engine pulls fuel through the line when I cover the air inlet. It also blows it back again if I turn the prop clockwise. Is that a symptom? I wonder whether the mount the engine inverted so as to be able to prime a few drops in the intake with the needle shut. Times gone by engines would start and run for the duration of the prime this way!
  2. Bought used but looking in ok condition. I checked the valve clearances and set them to 0.04mm. Compression seemed a bit low initially but on a test stand after quite a bit of priming /choking and flicking eventually it fired and occasionally burst into life for maybe half a second but nothing more. By now compression has improved considerably. The problem is I can only make it fire during or after choking with an electric starter turning it over and then mostly with the throttle shut. A 12x6 prop seemed better than a smaller one. On the occasional burst the needle valve doesn't hold position and seems to have a slightly loose sealing ring (,is this a normal o ring I can change?). Is this all basically fuel feed problems or valve timing or what? I suppose I will dismantle and look for issues . Under the rocker cover all looks nice. There is the usual black gunge in the exhaust chamber
  3. The Kyosho Calmato Sport 60 is for sale. If interested please send a private message.
  4. Turning into a labour of love or maybe it's hate. I can see how folks get hooked on making full size kit planes, rebuilding warbirds etc. Anyway once this undercarriage is back on I'm ready to finish the 3rd recovering , fit the engine then go out and (maybe get someone competent) to fly it!
  5. I expect everyone has sussed this but just in case... You advertise something wanted then an unknown person suggests you contact someone else who amazingly has this thing to sell you! Just ignore it. A scam!
  6. New rudder being made . Laminated structure. More work on undercarriage mounting.
  7. I wouldn't risk the strength of that joint by not using resin. Use the covergrip as advised above.
  8. I probably will make a hatch in this to get at the fuel tank and Rx battery if necessary. Must remember to thoroughly fuel proof in here while I can
  9. Getting on with it! Making the new undercarriage plate and deciding to beef up it's mounting somewhat .
  10. Wanted Great Planes Boeing Stearman (120 sized ARTF) ideally either wings from a wrecked model in any condition. Or if necessary a complete airframe.Again damage is not a problem as I enjoy rebuilding from the dead! I have a nice fuselage but no wings as someone threw them away before I got there. Colour is immaterial as I will recover.
  11. Well where did those 3 years go. The project stalled not through lack of patience but distraction by other wreck rebuilds. Time to get this one down finished and flown. Some rebuilds are harder than others
  12. Yes. I think they are taking a short break but Jorgen is attending to emails

    Zenoah G62

Excellent condition with electronic ignition. Intake manifold elbow to reduce intake noise and to keep inside the cowl plus Toni Clark canister silencer. £150 plus postage.
  14. Hmm. I think that closes that line of questionning! Thanks all.
  15. Is that "No" to castor or "No" to a castor free fuel or " No " to any more discussion? Probably all 3 perfectly valid responses.
  16. Who makes their own? Suppliers for oil methanol and nitromethane? Cheaper or not?
  17. Well an ev car and generator! Nice cheap solution. Does the generator emit more noise and pollution than a Zenoah g62? Lol
  18. Thinking of ditching a Zenoah g62 due to noise regs in favour of electric with 12s lipo. My concern is without spending inordinate amounts on batteries how can I get in a few flights in a session? Charging from a spare car battery? At 5 amps minimum of an hour. So 2 pairs of 6s 5000mah lipos (that's what? 280 quid?) will give me an 8 minutes flight then another then maybe wait 45mins for the first set to charge for the next 2 flights. Seems a bit expensive a conversion for the lack of convenience. Just to reduce noise (that's good). Still I can listen to the chain saws lead blowers and off-road motorbikes while I'm waiting!
  19. That's interesting. How much are you looking for?
