Getting on well with the above referenced habotai polyester lining. I'm smoothing down reasonably tight using Aleene's high tack fabric adhesive round edges then light warming to shrink slightly then trad cellulose dope with water based pu to fuel proof. See black area in the picture.

Hole in wrong place

I'd go balsa plug glued in with foaming Pu glue masking tape over the top then sand smooth 12 to 24 hours later. I've also used epp foam (not polystyrene) cut roughly and put glued in . -

As new unused. Huge out runner for 10 to 12 cells and around 24 inch props and up to 200 amp esc to replace 60 to 80 cc petrol engine. With mounts. Designed as a 50 to 80cc gas engine replacement, this motor is a direct bolt in for 17~30lb Sport, Scale and 3D planes. A perfect size motor for 3D flight up to 20lbs. The motor is very well built with strong mounts, end bell and concentric double bearings at the rear to support large propellers and rotating can, especially during hard 3D flight. This motor is very well engineered and of the highest quality. The factory can produce only a limited number of these motors per month due to the increased time in balancing and machining such a large object. Spec. Model: 80-80-10 Resistance: 0.011ohm ESC Required: 200A Input Voltage : 30~50V Kv : 160 rpm/V Weight: 1545g Shaft: 8mm Non Load Current: 6.0A at 20V Dimensions: 152x133x81mm (Including Mount) Equivalent: 50-80cc Gas Engine Pole Count: 26 Listing ID: 213970

What's the difference between water based pu varnish and EziDope? I find the wbv does not tighten the covering the way cellulose dope does. Is EziDope better?

Thanks for those tips I'm now able to make my own letters and logod

I want to be able to print large size letters in a variety of fonts and styles to use to cut my own model names etc from fabric or film. I used to be able to do this easily with Wordart but now I don't have access to word and don't want to pay MS for it. There must be a simple free app that does it and allows me to size the letters before printing but all I can find is online gimmicky types. Any ideas please?

I've found some suitable cheap 1£ per metre x 1.5m width polyester lining fabric which is as light as my original nylon. It's Barbie colour unfortunately! But I've found it's easy to go from pink to red, purple or even blue. Small areas I lay out on a glass sheet and use thin water based fabric paints then predope ( I have yet to try pu and heat shrink). Larger areas like 2m x 1.5m I put in the old Crockpot and use Dylon dye.

£36 for 5 litres of fun or 12 cups of coffee in the company of the laptop warriors.

Any chance of a link to the lightest eBay polyester you use? The stuff I ordered is much heavier than traditional nylon.

Anyone used polyester dress lining on an open structure using water based pu rather than nitro cellulose. I'm not sure whether this combination has shrinking tendency sufficient to work?

Interesting in upgrading from analogue but I want to just look at the fpv feed occasionally whilst flying on a monitor not goggles . I can do this currently but is there a digital monitor / fpv receiver?

Similar to these Dubro 5 inch which seems to have a brass threaded inflation point.
