  1. Try this. It should work with futaba radio's. http://hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__22691__FrSky_TFR6M_2_4Ghz_6CH_Micro_Receiver_FASST_Compatible.html
  2. Hi Andrew, I too have recently come back to this hobby after a break. I always used to fly nitro and i was determined to fly electric after getting back into it. I bought myself an electric model, batteries, chargers all the accessories for it and set up. Now i find myself flying my old nitro models and have just purchased my first 30cc petrol model and engine.   So....pros and cons   Electric: Pros: Clean, quiet, (generally) smaller models although i have seen plenty of large scale leccy models, more reliable than engines. I'm sure there is plenty more but thats all i have at the moment. Cons: waiting for batteries to charge (at home or at the field), having to carry a spare leisure/car battery and charger for at the field thus meaning more to cart around and if you don't have a field charger then depending on how many batteries you have and what model then you generally get shorter flying times which means you'll be home before you know it. Again this can be argued against nitro/petrol.   Nitro/Petrol: Pros: only limited on flying time by how much fuel you have/reciever/transmitter battery. no waiting around between flights for batterie to charge. No figuring out what speed controllers can go with what batteries and motors. Cons: Noisy, Dirty, engine problems, usually larger size models (again this can be argued both ways)   This list could probably go on forever, i personally believe that its all down to personal preference at the end of the day. I tried electric and it wasn't for me, you might have a different experience. It may be worth going along to your local flying club and asking all the questions regarding both directions and see which one seems more suited to yourself. I hope this little essay can help you.   Ben. Edited By Ben Kelly on 04/06/2015 23:26:31
  3. Yeah, if I'd had the choice I would have gone on Saturday. On the plus side I did manage to get all my shopping for bits and pieces done instead of being distracted by the flying.
  4. I feel like I'm the only one who was disappointed with this show. I have not been before and even though the weather wasn't the greatest today, the flying was cut short, the trade line was not half as big as I had expected and worst of all, no swop meet even though it said so on the website. It's easy to say I'm very much looking forward to Weston Park now.
  5. I am going to pick a new plane up from London tomorrow (I live in Birmingham) and it got me thinking. What is the furthest that you have ever travelled for your hobby? This could be to pick up a new model or anything else where you haven't been able to get near home. This can even include going to shows, fly-ins and swopmeets. I think my longest travel so far has been to the show at Sandown Racecourse which was a good few years ago now.
  6. Just to add my two pence worth. I have found that a lot of modellers are either electric or i/c. When I recently got back into this hobby I was going to go strictly electric, to make it less messy and smelly. I even bought a small leccy Ryan, batteries, charger along with other accessories but I have now found myself back flying my old i/c planes and to top it off I've just purchased my first large petrol model and 30cc engine. I think at the end of the day it all comes down to personal preference and peoples situations Such as, places to run engine, store fuel and oil, charge batteries Etc. 7. Try here. It is aerofly but this is the RC version. http://www.aeroflyrc.com/Edited By Ben Kelly on 25/05/2015 00:31:54
  8. Had a great day at the Fun-Fly yesterday. Well done to all involved on the smooth running of everything.   Here is a little video i took flying my Cub around.     Happy Flying. Edited By Ben Kelly on 24/05/2015 14:13:21
  9. I'll be there. Never been to this show before so really looking forward to it. I'll be on the hunt for a new plane. I'm thinking something aerobatic for a 30cc petrol engine.
  10. This is excellent news that the event is still going ahead. Well done to all involved. I am very happy as this will be my first visit to Greenacres as a pilot rather than spectator. The car will be loaded up with my Edge 540, Piper Cub (Complete with GoPro for some aerial video), Vampire EDF and small Foamy Ryan STA.   Excited is an understatement. 11. is there anything specific you put into the search bar on eBay to find the best deals?? Thanks.
  12. I was out last weekend with my Edge 540 and its newly fitted ASP 75 two Stroke. It flies like a dream and at full throttle will make like a homesick angel. I also gave my 2nd hand Piper Cub its first outing and boy was that an eventful flight. Firstly i had to see why the Saito 61 4-stroke up front was cutting out (tuned out to be a kink in the fuel line inside the plane that we couldn't see, then upon takeoff it pointed its nose to the sky and didn't want to level out. I eventually gained some control after trimming in full down elevator and having to hold in some down too. Next was the ailerons, All it wanted to do was turn left so, again i was fighting it to complete one circuit and land (almost without fault.) I had to get it down in the long grass and broke the U/C. That flight knocked my confidence a little so i decided the best thing to do was to get the Edge back in the air and throw it around a bit. This fixed my confidence and depleted me stress levels.
  13. Hi Colin, Thanks for your reply. That is something else i need to do before hopefully flying this weekend. I also get baffled at how people make all their wires so neat. Cable management has never been my strong point. What lipos are you using? These are the ones i bought **LINK**
  14. Hi all, I have recently purchased one of the PNF versions of this and wondered if anyone had found it tail heavy?? I have got a 2200 4S LiPo up front and every time i try to balance it (using the 290mm recommendation instead of the 310mm in the manual) it seems very tail heavy. has anyone else come across this?? i will be either cutting out some of the foam in the nose to push the battery more forward or just add some weight to the nose.

  16. I'll be flying my Seagull Edge 540, trying to improve my aerobatics and practice for my 'B' Cert. For the calmer side of me I've got my small electric Max Thrust Ryan which flies beautifully. I've also just finished assembling my new HobbyKing Durafly Vampire which i hope to maiden very soon. I'm sure I'll be adding to my small collection as the year goes on.

  18. Posted by richard cohen on 25/02/2015 21:48:56: Ben, not sure where you are in the country but i have a set of Hanger 9 Cub wings with aluminium airfoil section struts here in darkest Wiltshire if you are interested for small contribution to the current lipo fund Rich Edited By richard cohen on 25/02/2015 22:07:40 Thanks for the offer Richard but i think i'm going to have a go at making something myself. I've never been much of a builder, more a flyer but this is a challenge i'm willing to try. Cheers.
  19. Thanks everyone for your answers. It looks like I'm going to have to sort something as I don't think I'll be happy to fly this monster until I have everything sorted.
  20. Here are a few pictures that i have. I think i may of got the make wrong and it could be a Hangar 9 Cub but don't hold me to that.
