  1.   Graham  R.                              Well it is nice your back, AS for "VOTE 1  WHIRLWIND"   it is that, vote one for the Westland Whirlwind to be the aircraft of this " voting forum',   Thanks(another chance to mention it)
  2.  Mr Erflog,Perhaps David will correct me, BUT, the Plan will be of the most amount of votes given to it. It may seem a odd way of doing things, I think it's called " First past the Post"   the more people vote for ONE plane , that will be the plan that will be "drawn up" and built by Tony N." the better chance of it being the winner" as for the Areado or some obscure plane, it WILL NOT HAPPEN, IT is A "readers" choice. --GOT IT--. So if you want a Twin for the "FREE " plan -----VOTE one---- WHIRLWIND, Westland of course!!!!!!         Are you for real????. Thanks Barry
  3. Martin, Thanks for your reply, I prefer the sound and pure pleasure of I.C. planes, altho "electrics have there "place" , Any "what's quantrum physics" --------VOTE 1  "WHIRLWIND".      Barry
  4. Well Graham, it's the least I could do, for "lover of the "Whirlwnd" ( VOTE  1  Whirlwind), I see David has sorted the problem out. Perhaps you or someone,(even "WInchy" from Aus.[ I assume he reads this]) "Q"-- by rotating the cam gear 180 deg's on a OS40/ or any other Four Stroke, will it run in opp. direction. Yea I know what "boffins" some of you are,(if the cam lobes are the same "going up" as "going down)??????????    Anybody !!!!!!!         Barry
  5. Well I am sorry Graham, That you have said Goodbye, NOW look  at what the "Whirlwind" has to offer, Twin engined, Graceful lines, only a few built(112 of them, only 2 squad's) Can be as fast as you want it to be,outstanding "presence" on the ground, a straight forward wing plan,AND most of all, one that does not get modelled often ( unlike Spits, Hurries,Furies, Mossies and  P51s, [ dozens of plans for all of them] ), comeon "Chaps" think outside of the "square". Think about  it,.......... sunday morning , you arrive, open the tailgate, reach in, take out the "Whirlwind", place it on the ground,  straight away, your "mates" say, " WHERE DID YOU GET THAT KIT FROM", Proudly you answer. I built it from a Plan from RCME, a plan by  Tony ( the master designer) Nijhuis,................ WOW ........... SO VOTE ONE  Whirlwind,    Barry
  6.  David, excuse me, but I have to "keep plugging away",  I've done a rough count whirlwind "lovers",we not that far behind in the twin" votes"  , so, bribe ya mates, get'em on "rcme site" and vote for the Whirlwind. come on there's lots of plans for Spitfires,Hurricanes, Mozzies, Hi110, BUT only 3 avilable for the Whirlwind, So tell Ya  mates 'VOTE 1 Whirlwind"      thanks Barry
  7. WEEELLLL lets' get some more votes for the "westland Whirlwind'  fella's, That's interesting, Bob Graham, about one surviving in ireland, as the records show the last "hack" was reduced to material, and buried at the end of an airstrip, I think it was Yeovil, altho 2 went to Fiji , Do you have any more info , now back to the "PICK a PLANE" GGGGGGGGGGGGOOOOOOOOOOOOOO the "whirly bird" . Barry
  8. I have to keep reminding you "chaps" about the Westland Whirlwind" Barry
  9. Steve Hargraves,     RE "whirly" the Gordon Whitehead's version is still avail, last I looked, IT's a little small, But It flies superbly, and fast, no flaps.  I won a regional event with it in"88" Regards Barry
  10. YYYYYYYEEEEEEESSSSSSSS, I"LL go with Tony, the WESTLAND WHIRLWIND, I am lover of this "unsung hero"  Brilliant, Twin engined , fighter of ww2, only 112 were built, faster than a "spit" at the time, graceful lines and you don't see many "plans'  available, 3 that I know of, so, Tony, here's hopping( or hoping). Regards Barry
  11. YEs there is one around, I'll search my latest mag's and get back, Barry

HI guys, WHERE can I go to to get colour charts of WW2 paint, I (think) require the colour formule  mix so that I can get a local paint shop , here in Aus, to mix it for me, I have tried the usual paint manufactures but they don't seem to be intrested, "too Hard", Any one HELP?????? Barry
  13.  David, My 3 favs, are 1.  Westland Whirlwind ,with operational Flaps, and retracts in 2 issues, 2.  the FW TA154  3. Hienkel 217 . Thanks Barry

HI,  here's a thought, let's use the car faterninty parts, "dog bones" they call them, nicely struts with ball 90deg shaft's each end,...USAGE , well undercarraige sruts, scale engine mounts, have a look, I have, moving the rear or the nacalle for westland whirlwind, and cheap too. Barry
  15. THANKS David, the tyhpoon plan arrive today,It is Great, Well done Tony, Barry
  16. Hi, heard this "buzzing" sound on the town oval, had to have a look , A man in the centre flying this plane on 2 wires, That started, my love of model aircraft,I was 9 yrs old. After working on weekends, saved enough money for a "Tiapan" trainer, Taipan Blue head 2.5cc engine, (Aussie kit and motor), now 59, DC3 kit in the box , but I have to finish of  the westland whirlwind, 78'' before i start a new one, yes I scratch build. Regards Barry
  17. THank you for your feedback, WKD-Side, As I have stated, I havn't received the Mag yet, BUT going on the last"special"THERE was definitly  a  pound's worth more info in it than the reg. mag, that's why they call it a "SPECIAL", youknow! more to read. so the extra pound or so should be worth it beside the FREE plan,  1 pound here is about about $2. 1 10oz glass of beer is $3.50, so to me, I will forego that 1 glass to equilize my spending on my fav. hobby, for the week, WOW as if that's going to hurt?????? NOT. Regards Barry (strange you don't have a  name)
  18. WELL!!! I am absolutly "shattered" by some the complaints made by my fellow modelers, so called,  I can "bet" That most of you "whinghers" will not have it finished by June, here is a "mag" that has mucked up and Promised to replace IT for FREE, and your "bitching" that it hasn"t arrive yet, "OH how small the mind is". DAVID, we in AUS have not GOT the "mag" yet, AND to rub "salt" into my British counterparts, If I don't like the size, I WILL buy one. HOW selfish are you up there, Your'e getting something for nothing, (OH.. I.. do appoligse), A FULL SIZE PLAN for the cost of the mag,Well we always "said" "whinging Poms"THe model Faternity can DO without folks like YOU,I am DISGUSTED that you have the balls to complain , Barry
  19. WEll, back to wing (W>W) if we followed the full size aircrarft, one would think that it woud apply to models eg, fabric and dope, we all know how much deflection it takes  to make the wingturn on it's axis, so I would think that wrinckles would not be an issue, Barry
  20.  NOW this is EXCATLY(ok i carn't spell), Ernie , good stuff, this what the " boss" want to see, before he can give us a page or two,, Wing Warping..... well in my thoughts the main spar and leading edge would have to carry the load, then braced from up and below. To change angles on the trailing edge would have to be another braceing wire to alter it's angle, via a servo, that's my thought, Barry
  21. Thanks danny , NOW let's get some more of US to rally to the cause, Regards barry
  22. Hi guys, (persons), how about some answers to some the scale problems, eg how do you constuct a sliding canopy, where do you obtain the "bits", likewise, the geometery of a retract gear, some of us away from the mainstream of modelers, do not get the chance even to see a "pro" built scale model, I am sure that there is a lot who know, but we need to pass this "info " on to our young ones, or there won't be any "balsa bashers" left, lets put  put the "hard word" on the  "boss" and see if  a page or two in our fav. mag can help and inspire, how great it is to construct your own model, not buy it in a plastic form. I await some further commet ,Yea ....... Regards Barry

    SCALE

Yes, I also agree, e.g. Undercarriage!, How do these guys "make them" where do you get the Materials, one whole issue could be spent on just "retracts"( I mean hand made), how do they make "sliding canopies" all the little things that make a scale model . I am sure you will get plenty of "input/ feedback" Regards Barry
  24. TO A.Widdowson, Answer to above.if you got the august issue in early oct, you should be able to get sept. issue in early nov. Any Help  Barry. W.A.
