  1. It's an 1100 kv motor on the front and 8x6 sf prop . Another one has 1500kv and flies a but faster but not too bad.
  2. Here's a better video of my Light lagger. It was darker than the video shows , the camera setting were not the best.
  3. Hi Jeff2wings , I have been told it is a cermark s2b 2 stroke 60" wingspan. Defo going down the 6v route as 4.8 would not be enough. 3000mah would that be large enough or 2 x 2000mah in seris??
  4. A few of us have built these . looks great with them all flying round , especially as flocks of real birds fly by!!! ( They must all be 2.4 as no aerials!!!)
  5. Hi guys what size battery do you recommend for 7 servos. 6 high powered on a 1/4 scale Pitts?? Lipo or Niamh ?? Cheers again
  6. Oh it's fantastic . Hope to video both tommorrow night. Perhaps start a thread for planes with lights !
  7. Oh yes flew last night once it was finished. That video was taken at 9pm and I had just finished flying. I had been after lights like this but at the shows it was quite expensive. Love the effect and a friend has also built a " light lagger" although he forgot the two meanings of light and built a house brick , but it sure flies well as we did the power to weight ratio for set up. Love it now flying is not restricted to weekends in winter as I can see it flying st night . Neighbours love it. Firework show with out the bang !!!!
  8. Sorry i tried to hyperlink on my phone no good apparently.
  9. Thanks guys. I also have the same model but with a ar6100e as opposed to the orange rx. I just thought that the rx may have been getting confuzzled with the proximity of the ESC. The offending RX has been placed in room 101 as opposed to the VIce. Further ground checks will be made before air checks.
  10. Last night test flew a plane after range test . In flight flew well till no response and plane flew off into tree. Rx is orange 6ch tx is dx8 . The rx was close to esc could this be the cause , electric field ???
  11. Redesigned a bit with larger surfaces. 1100kv motor 20amp esc 8x6 prop . Oh and I followed the hint of adding lightness. Lol . goes well very happy this is my v2
  12. Ken you have been entertaining to say the least. Well done for this achievement. Do you get a badge top put on your jacket????? Is it like swimming each distance gets awarded a badge for your swimming shorts etc. Or is it a higher accolade than that??? LOL
  13. Hi all , been looking into the led tape to light up my pipe lagger . It says it uses 400mah would a 800mah 3 cell cope or would I need bigger lipo or separate lipo. I currently had LEDs stuck in the end of a drinking straw glue to the leading edge on each wing and a single led vehind the prop . It looks great but thought the tape would light up better. Any thoughts ???
  14. I have just hot a dx8 after having a 5 and 6. I love the timer which can be assigned to any switch or indeed the throttle which can also be on a stop start in line with throttle use. The ad card down load has made setting up my umx stuff a breeze. Back up to pc is easy. If buying this ensure you check the contents it should come with sd card dx8 neckstrap tx power lead ( it has a different socket to the dx6 as it is smaller) These all should be in the tx only sales as stated on the spectrum website. Best prices I have found are ALS hobbies and inwoods. £179 . I do not work or have links within either store bit have only receive great service from both . I like to share my purchases from stores that give good value and service. Of course it can be bought at a multitude of other stores at varying prices.
  15. Just sorted it . took the small y lead out and followed the video for which lead . All 4 sockets are used in the end the manual is here. for the rx. That coupkled with the video and it all makes sense. Now to try and see if they are any use!!!!! Gaz Unconfused.com!!!!
  16. \just found that it is a speed brake setting . I watched the full size stryker video on Horizon hobbie. However they say remove the rudder y lead and plug one of the rudder servos into aux port. now on the UMX I need to find which socket is the aux port. This will then allow the rudders to both turn inward on flipping the flap switch up or outward on switching the flap switch up ( maybe the other way round) this slows the model down quickly and links in the elevator to compensate. so the challenge now is to find the aux port The extentions wont be needed as there is little room and all close to gether
  17. The dx8 settings downloaded give left rudder and right correction the flap switch up or down .is this correct. Should there be high rudder use. ? I have just swapped the plugs back from use with my dx6i . Every thing else appears to be fine. Confused . Com . Yes I am.
  18. Yippee just flown at dusk. Been slow finishing so race was on to z bend the last wires before dark. My set up is 3cell 800mah lipo.12amp esc. 8 x 4.3 prop. 19g 1200kv motor 3servis . Only one in the wing mounted in the fuse foam. 39inch wing. 8inch + 1.5 inch chord. 13inch te to Le of tail plane. Hand cut 6 mm balsa te and Le on the wing. Te cut to 45degrees to aid aileron movement. Tip though is to feed the extensions through the frame before gluing wing in... Dooh I had to cut the canopy off after building. Keel would be better 1/4 1/4 or carbon as stated by Tom. 6mm carbon on the Le and te would also be better possibly to. Friend is building but I ran out of depron so he is using a sheet of my 6mm epp I bought last week. Oh mine weighs 11oz auw inc battery. 90 watts giving = 130 watts per lb. thanks Tom for the inspiration
  19. Yes. However it is said that regular fast charging reduces battery life. I usually got 2 or 3 c but that's quick enough fir me .
  20. Here is mine so far. I have cut and fitted the rudder and elevator. ailerons are to be cut although I willbe adding them to back of the 8 inch wing as i have the Balsa strip in place. currently weighs 172g 18g for servos 30g for motor 12g for esc and rx 85g for a 100mah 3 cell battery Puts the AUW at 317g plus motor (circa 40g) 357g AUW 12.6oz 3 ox more than stated weigh . but I summise that 9oz is with 500mah lipo, 2 servos and lighter motor. So this requires a motor that pulls 120wats ( this would give 150watts ) or 80watts (this gives 100watts per pound.) Does that sound right?? and TBH i would poss go for the higher watt motor at 120watts as I have omitted control horns, piano wires and poss been a little light on esc weight. Poss this one??
  21. Many thanks . Whilst out in the sun I have cut all the parts. I did cut the wing Seat in a similar way in the end . I do think that 6 x .5 cf strip would be better but in the theme of under £25 I have hand cut 6mm balsa strips . I did eye the model and the wing appeared to be a little lower on one side so I trimmed a little more and stuck to the top. The top piece I place next to 6mm laid a Stanley blade on the depron and scored down to allow the cylinder finish. Must to add the ailerons . 1.5 inch chord ???????
  22. Does the wing chord include the airleron for the aero bat . I went this way to reduce diffulicikties calculating dihedral and incidence. This should be simpler !! Famous last words!!
  23. Sorry I was referring to square cutting the lagger. How deep fit the wing?? And is 8.5 inches the best distance frim firewall to Le? I have worked with depron and built shockies and flyguy and fly man in both 3mm and 6mm . I agree it cuts easy and to be honest if you get together in the club buy it online eBay from kudos. We bought 40 sheets 3mm for about £55 worked out at £1.25 a sheet. This is £3.50 in shops. 6mm is a bit more for 20 sheets. I just wanted a tip to ensure I cut the bit out for the wing to be level . What's the best standard dimensions so far u have. Nfurewall to Le 8.5 inch chord 8 inch trailing edge to leading edge of tail 15inches tail plane chord 4 inch tail plane span 8 inch. Has any improvements been made on these as 50 pages hold lots of info on at least 6 designs I plan for a straight wing or if tips on how to ensure equal dihedral on both cut sides of the fus I wil l go that route. Cheers guys I look forward yo flying this beauty and may be get it to the Nats!!!
