  1. Having just got a blade 400. I have a a few flights but one of the lipos has a fault. When put on the eflite charger it starts to charge then the red and green lights flash ( Charge error) i thought may be the 12v battery may be low but it seemed to charge the other battery okay. I then plugged it in to my v flight power balancer and multiplex charger this showed input voltage error. on other batteries it charges fine. Is the battery useless or is there a recovery method ?  Any one got a good supplier and brand  for lipos for the blade 400. don't want to break the bank here though. Co pilot ( AKA WIFE monitoring spending!!!) Cheers  Gaz
  2. dependant on the width of the fus under neath you could still use one as both rudder clamp and wheel have ars which stick out like servo arms. Many other types available I have a chippie. I got from whole sale planes . Word of warning ensure the under carriadge on the wings has secure mounting blocks. Mine folded in on first landing. On inspection the support/mounting block had glue on it but had been put in back to front and barely stuck to the rest of the frame. Oh well we fly and learn .   Gaz
  3. I agree there are some shops which seriously need to rethink their customer service policy. Especially in the current finacial times. I , like you vote with my cash and spend with some of the best I have found. My LHS mmmmmmh I don't think so.
  4. Cheers Joshua, I have since purchased new gears ( couple of packets) my seconadry thoughts where if i make the servo gears bullet proof (ish) then it may push damage to some where else costing more in the long run?? Bought a futaba on recomendatiuon from those great guys at midlands. He was very helpful ( as store sales should be) but also when I asked him about something e;lse (V flight power balancer and the adaptor board for eflite)said NO NO NO don't need to buy that you can plug in direct saving me a few quid. I know of a shop that would have just sold me it anyway for the sale. Not put the new servo on yet want to practice on the cheap gears !!!
  5. it is a bracket which U shaped and slips up on the rudder ( glued and or screwed to fix) arms coming off it  at 90 degrees to the rudder. the springs then attach the arms on the rudder to the arm on the wheel. . All the parts are in the package just not in the photo.
  6. I have a tail wheel on some of my aircraft and to be honest some are a pain in the rear end. However on reading ( probably on here) I have found a good solution is to attach an arm to the rudder and secure springs either side to the wheel on the fus. That whay the pressure on the rough terrian is not laiden onto the servo with the risk of stripping gears. Kind of shock absorbing. smc have one here there are the type which fix straight in to the rudder which i also have and are a little cheaper ( search SMC for tail wheel) Neither style require a splitter. Which is really only another linkage to worry about/fail and how would you tighten/adjust easily once the model is covered? Hope this helps Gaz
  7. I got a blade 400 last week and have been practicing in the garden. ( benifits of 2.4 ) Need the indoor scene to pick up round here as i found it is a different ball game without the wind to worry about.  i am lovin' the experience though and the DX6i
  8. At the patch today . Two artic monkeys. Tes me and a fellow die hard. Light drift of snow and bit of a breeze. But at least i got my fix. Back at the house a bit of Blade 400 heli fun in the garden ( not too high though) set up a dream! Perfectly warm = Dressed appropriately !! One problem forgot the tea but was only up for an hour or two so got one on arrival home,
  9. That'll be me. The people who whinge about being cold are usually the ones with one jacket and a pair of trainers and jeans on, rather than layers of clothing trapping air and insulating the body. Any way people are saying its not as cold as it used to be!!!??? . Well I will be flying Sunday, got to refit the bathroom today. This is my teabreak!!
  10. Forgot to ask , when you went to the club did you get a trial flight a club model or the such like on a buddy lead??? Try see if they do. You may spend a small fortune and realise it is not what you wanted. I doubt it but it may be the case.
  11. Hi Norman, The guys here are right about the DX6i I have just got one with a blade 400 heli. Great piece of kit. I got it from the BMFA CLASSIFIEDS website. My bundle of fun should have totalled in excess of £350. i got it for £150 all new in box barely used. There are some good adverts on this site also, but by far more on the BMFA site. Looking cost nothing and it maybe some one is selling up or moving to ic powered from glider etc  may be in your own town or very close. Well worth visiting daily . Much better deals than EBay auctions which you pay over the odds for most of the time. Gaz
  12. I bought a blade and now have a spektrum set as well. Mighty impressed with the set and easy to use format built in timer all the whistles and bells!!!!
  13. Not tried one but the radio mit?????? As I say, not bad weather just inappropriate clothing/equipment!!!
  14. I agree delta, went with futaba as I have the 35meg gear then realised my error when i found the prices of rx as opposed to spectrums. I have since bought a cracking deal mint Blade 400 complete with extra battery and few other bits and pieces £150 absolute bargin. So now not only got a great tx but also an extra heli to play about with as a bonus. There are better deals to be had on these forums and BMFA classifieds than on EBay.
  15. On the flask scene, I am no where near the older age of a lot of my club mates ,,,,but any fool can be cold and thristy. All the P's is a rule I learned from my Army barmy days .... Prior Preparation Prevents Poor Performance. If that is taking a flask of ( I take hot water and make those nice cappucinos etc and the flask does not smell of milk!!) what ever then so be it. As for the cold weather ...Well there is no such thing as bad weather only inappropriate clothing. I pack those gel packs that heat up when the metal sdisc is snapped or the charcoal burning stick hand warmers in my pockets  Wrap up, and take a brew( and of course rude not to take a few biscuits!!) you'll have a great day. Gaz
  16. Thanks both. I think I will go with the hitecs from one of the stores and go metal geared all round. When taking one apart it is easy to see how easy it is to strip a standard servo. Fingers crossed they should be here Tuesday if I order tonight.   Thanks again Gaz
  17. Cheers Owen . Would you say the Hitec hs65 metal gears are good enough for the job alround then. Steve webb has them for £69 for 4 or Inwoods 17.50 ea
  18. Hi all,  having just got the Blade 400 after much deliberation and credit control from my non flying co pilot (Read as wife). I have come t a stand still. The heli is great the package , the radio etc but can any one tell me when upograding servos to hs 65 do they all need to be metal gear or only the tail ? Is it  usual practice to use the karbonite for the other 3 servos? Does any one owning a blade have preference of servo other than Hitec?? Radio is great and is the reason for buying this package but thats another thread!!   Gaz
  19. I have a boomerang and she has seen many guises of coverings and battle scar but has out lived a few of my other a/c. A good solid flying scaffold plank. Well made. i have reinforced the base with ply and put tail dragger on but other than that fantastic Gaz
