  1. Knew you'd rise to the bait Jim...seems I can't spell Cyprus either!!  Will swop you the crystals no probs....but wait a minute...thought you were 2.4 now??....obviously can't let go of the 35meg either pal. Time for me to bail out of this thread...got my amswers...thanks everyone.
  2. If you haven't got a clue, it was privileged information!   This thread reminds me of an old saying: It's rude to whisper in public.  Perhaps this forum isn't the right place for secretive topics?
  3. Thanks for comments Bob.  I reckon you're probably right though I do know for sure that Hitec dual conv. xtals do in fact work well in GWS dual conv. rx's.  Knew I should have stuck with Hitec gear for 35mhz.
  4. It's me again guys.  Seems some guys on here are trying their best to drag this thread over to holidays in Cypress and where to buy cheap 2.4 gear (though I'm not surprised by the latter cos my mate Jim Carrs is so tight he can peel an orange in his pocket!!!) Back to the original thread though....  I only use dual conversion rx's and these are Hitec or GWS.  The Futaba dual conv. xtals simply don't seem to work in my Hitec rx's.  Is this to be expected is my real question and I'm sort of getting mixed views.  Anyone got a definitive answer? If not I reckon I'm gonna have to stick 'em all back on that well known auction site for the Futaba guys to grab. 5. A bandy legged copper from LooeWas struggling with just what to doHe said "I can stop a big bus" "Without any fuss""But bubble cars simply go through!"
  6. Hi,I've recently fallen foul of this problem in that I use Hitec gear in the main (tx and rx's) but have in the past also used GWS rx's with my hitec tx.  I have always used hitec dual c rx xtals and these have worked fine in both makes of rx.   However, I bought 4 Futaba dual xtals (price was too good to miss) and tried to use them in hitec rx's and they simply won't work.  I for one didn't realise they would be manufacturer specific.  Does anyone know if Futaba xtals will work in GWS rx's ( I don't have any anymore) because if they do I've not wasted my money.  Cheers
  7. Peter,Have you thought about using Sundeala board instead of cork tiles. Its the stuff they make pin boards out of and is great for topping off the building board.
  8. Danny,Have you tried using the white (or clear) decal/transfer sheets from Hannants etc. You can simply make up the artwork on your computer, print it off to the size you want and then use the decal sheets in any photocopier.
  9. Hi Chris, Thanks for the link. Despite what Robotbirds are saying, it would seem that the Spektrum Air Modules for Futaba (DSM2 type) do indeed work ok in Optic 6 trannies.  This is bril because it will be a cheaper alternative than buying overpriced Futaba 2.4 receivers.
  10. Thanks for the info Paul, will check out Puffin's site.   Would still like to know if Spektrum gear will work as it seems odd that the chap who sold the gear was adamant it did.
  11. Hi, I have a couple of Optic 6 transmitters that currently operate on 35mhz. I would like to be able to convert to 2.4ghz but Hitec don't seem to do a 2.4ghz conversion module yet.   However, in the April issue of RCME, a gentleman recently sold a Hitec Optic 6 tranny that was, he claimed, fitted with a Spektrum conversion module, presumably DSM2, that is designed for converting Futaba radios. I contacted him and he said he got his from Robotbirds, it fit the Hitec module socket in the Hitec tranny and worked perfectly with the spectrum receiver that was supplied with it. I have contacted Robotbirds about this and they say that it only works with Futaba radios.  Can anybody shed some light on this please as the conversion kits are a little too expensive to buy without knowing for certain?   Cheers
  12. Jim, Shouldn't the latter be "The Tarts Handbag".  Ha ha!
  13. I go to Aldi, to look for the Gas soldering iron, the £15 drill, and they do not have them. Why o why does my store not have these bargins, Do you know, does any one else know?   Erfolg, be patient, Aldi repeat sell these items quite regularly. I've had the rotary drill for a couple of years now and it get hammered regularly and stands up to the punishment very well. Top notch gear in my opinion and cheap as chips. My workshop is kitted out with most of the stuff Aldi sell (Workzone) and its all pretty durable.   The gas torch looks good too. I got one that looks exactly the same from Maplins. Cost me £19 but was well worth it,
  14. Hi, I have a Futaba 6EX 2.4ghz FASST radio set and was wondering if I could use other manufacturers 2.4 receivers. I've seen some 2.4 ghz Corona receivers around, going quite cheap but don't know if they'd be compatible with my radio set. Anyone know the answer? Kind Regards
