  1. Adrian, thanks for the comments, I'm now more nervous than ever!!! I'll let you know how it goes when I eventually get up the nerve to try it!  I have fitted flaps to mine, so that may help, and I'm told that it will need to be flown fast to keep it in the air , so landing may be a very high speed and interesting affair as our strip is not that wide.  Cheers Tony
  2. I've nearly finished mine (after 3 years !!!)It has come out much heavier at 91/2 lbs with over 1lb lead. I fitted a rcv 90cd and had to cut a box into the firewall to accommodate the carb. The engine is still a bit forward and there is a gap between the spinner and cowl, but, hey ho, its not for scale comps, so won't matter too much when its in the air (if it gets that far!!)  Any comments on what it may be like to fly being so much overweight? I'm not that experienced a flyer. Just how critical is the CoG? I think mine is at the most rearward point given on the plan.  Cheers Tony
  3. Hi Barry, thanks for reply.  Sounds absolutely excellent. Are these single stub exhausts or stacks of six? I need 12 pipes either singly or in sixes. How much including postage? Cheers Tony
  4. Posted by leccyflyer on 28/05/2010 18:07:23: Like these?   Those are scratch built in glass-fibre by a clubmate and use a really nice technique to get that weathered, rusty look. They are painted with brick red matt enamels, then have a layer of salt crystals sprinkled on them, before being sprayed with more matt enamel. They they are put into warm water, the salt dissolves, leaving a heavily pitted surface, which has a further light dusting of brick red matt paint to finish. They look incredibly authentic close up.  Might be worth giving Vortex Vacforms a call to see if they have anything suitable. Here's a link to their webpage  http://www.vortex-vacforms.co.uk/generalpage.htm  - good luck     Edited By leccyflyer on 28/05/2010 18:09:40  These look perfect, many thanks. Cheers  Tony

  6.    Where can I get 1/8-1/7 scale dummy exhausts preferably typhoon style, but merlin 12 pipe would do?? Tony
  7. where can I source a suitable spinner for the typhoon with ic engine? Tony
  8. Went to Goodwood, it didn't fly, due, we were told, to an engine fault. Great disappointment, but made up for by the weather, motor racing and the flying displays: Spitfires, Hurricane, Lancaster, Mustang, Corsair, Warhawk and Harvard. What a fabulous day it was!!! Cheers Tony.
  9. It should be at Goodwood Revival 21/09/08, assuming u/c is fixed. Tony

  11. this may have been asked before, but with such a long thread, searching could take a long time. Where can I get a suitable spinner for i.c. engine?
