  1. i am about to start to build a helicopter. i have a pitch guage no idea of the correct usage. can anyone tell me where to get an instruction booklet/ leaflet to enable me to set up plus6 degrees and minus6 degrees on my aerobatic heli.
  2. I am glad I'm not the only one with mixing troubles!!. My tx is a Hitec6 channel sport computer, with  '8' model memories.  When I try to mix Flaperrons I get either 1 flap and 2 ailerons or 2flaps and 1 aileron. {not always the same odd one]  Also connot use 8th memory . The shop I bought it from tells me you cannot use all 8!!  Can anyone suggest solutions?.
  3. I'looking for names and ordering details of suppliers of E P P.sheets in varying thicknesses from 3mm upwards. thankyou
  4. i hav some 2 stroke motors this age which run ok. should run cleanly and be only a bit down on power. How does compression feel? Does it still pop over tdc with no electric to glo plug? Compression will be noticably down if badly worn.
  5. my suggestions were made thinking you were running a 2 stroke , if your motor is a 4 stroke the same principles apply.. If you can remember cars with manual chokes , they would 8stroke if the choke was left out too long. The length of the inlet tract makes a difference to the time to respond to a change on the needle valve. Do you use an inline filter?
  6. Ally cat flyes ok , but my ducted fan supplied disintegrated on the third flight causing considerable damage. Its fast fun but will fly at reasonably slow speeds when trimmed out.
  7. Glyders are great fun will look good in the sky above my head
  8. you should be running a 9x6 or 10x5 propto get good revs. If its running rich it should be tending to 4 stroke,  turning the needle out will mke it richer.  A good starting point should be 2 1/2 turns out from fully in . If it tend to 4 stroke up to 1/4 throttle turn needle valve 1 click at a time waiting 3-4 seconds between clicks. If it was rich surplus fuel can take afew seconds to clear the crankcase.  When running smoothly slowly open to full throttle.  Carefully turn neele valve 1 click at a time until it no longer speeds up, if the motor speeds slightly  move 1 more click the same way ,if the motor slows 1click at a time the other way until it nolonger speeds up. in both cases 1 clck back once you go over max revs. Lastly hold model vertical if it cuts its eiher too week or you have an air leek. As soon as the motor starts to cut  bring the nose horizontal this should restore power if your close to right setting. Just turn needle valve out 1 click and try again to hold vertically until steady running obtained. Once set it should not need altering for sbsequent flights , or if it does only one or two clicks at the most. Good luck
  9. i've got my fingers crossed. I'll uncross them before I fly.
  10. looking forward to better weather to fly the plane once completed
  11. I now have a number of electric flight models flying but am having trouble with glitching on two. Both are using high  kv motors turning small props with pusher configuration. the same setup with front motor with a bigger prop gives no trouble. I have tried a ferrite ring on the esc to receiver leed,2 turns. The models concerned are foam Ally  Cat and deppron d-tyke..I can't see the foam making a difference. I keep the esc and receiver as far apart as possible and route the arial straight to the wing tip. Any ideas please?
  12. Scott, thankyou for info. I might not be the one you know. used to fly on the Wirral,  Arrowe Park. Trying to get back in touch wih wirral group as they still fly glo, and fammilly still that area. I moved to Taunton and local club electric only. Ihave been flying two small electric glyders , both fairly aerobatic rtf but short duration on lo power batteries, nimh with I think brush motors. Can these be run on lipo's or would the eletronic speed controllers have to be changed?   thank you once again David  field
  13. i have anumber of glo two stroke powered planes i wish to convert to electric.are there any easy ways of working out equivalents?  20 ic/35ic/45ic?      if anyone can help i would appreciate it. david field
