I've just dusted mine off. I think that it's time I updated it's motor to something more powerful and modern than the one it came with. Any suggestions for cheapish setup - motor/esc/prop? Thanks. Steve.

How well does the wing seat on others Terry's? On mine it has quite a gap at the TE which makes me think a bit of reshaping would allow the wing to fit much better. Steve.

Ah OK I'll go with it as it is then. I guess the airflow assistance is a bit like the 'shark' skin swimming suits that competition swimmers use. Steve.

Hi, Can the model be lightly sanded first to remove the moulding lumps and bumps? Thanks. Steve.

Electric conversion - what specs
Steelcityuk replied to Steelcityuk's topic in General Electric Flight Chat
Thanks for the link. I've read quite a bit on the electric side of things including the recent articles in RCM&E but I got the impression that there's more to it than just the numbers. I'll read some more then try to decide. Thanks. Steve. -
Hi All, I've had a unfinished Howard Metcalf Moonraker in the shed for the past few years - about 18 to be precise! Anyhow I've decided to take up flying again so I've been using a Hobbyzone Super Cub to easy me back into things and so now having seen how convenient electric flight is I'd like to power the Moonraker with a brushless setup. So what I'd like to ask is what brushless motor, LiPo and ESC would you recommend to convert a Howard Metcalf Moonraker from a IC engine? It's currently powered by a Irvine 40 ABC. I only understand the basics about LiPo's etc but have no practical experience that I think is needed to choose the right parts and money's tight so I can't afford to pick the wrong parts and have to buy them again. Does anyone else still have a Moonraker? One final thing has anyone done something similar to a Goldberg Cub or are they too large for it to be economical? Thanks. Steve.
