  1. What a beautiful model. I Didn't know you could do that with Depron. Can't wait to see the flying pics etc. Fantastic work Glenn.
  2. That's a bit worrying. Here in Tenerife the temperature on the flying field can exceed 35 C. I'll just have to remove all the foam wrapping from my Futaba Rxs and maybe suspend them by elastic bands, not that that will be much protection from the shock of my "arrivals"! My Tony Niuhaus Lightening is now 6 inches shorter than it started!
  3. I'm in just the right sunny place for a thermal glider!!
  4. Don't think we should get into politics, Dave, or we could be here all day. It doesn't inspire confidence when you see the confused way Ripmax seem to being going about the arrangements for exchange though. I wonder what will happen to all the suspect transmitters. Will they be put in the crusher, or used to build "new" units, or sold on as spare parts? Presumably the costs will be claimed back from the  assemblers in China, so 5,000 doesn't seem quite so many in that case, but then there must be thousands in America too. The logistics of the whole affair are quite scarey.
  5. True, Dave, but I wonder just how many transmitters are effected, and why they didn't give serial numbers?
  6. As the Ripmax web site has been unavailable for the last day or so, it could be they're inundated with claims and unable to cope? Maybe we should give them some time.
  7. Thanks John, I think that's a good idea and will do that as soon as I can find the address of the shop local to where my son lives. Looks like it's back to the clunky old 35mhz gear again, sigh!
  8. Just my luck. After praising 2.4 gigs, I got to the flying field on Saturday only to find my Futaba 6EX TX  wasn't talking to either of the  receivers of  two models. After digging the  little  devils out, I found that both had lost their binding with the TX., and the green RX LEDs were flashing. Not sure what this means, but I would guess that the TX coding has changed. When the RXs were re-binded (?) they both operated normally. As my TX serial is in the A7xxxxxxx series, it looks like I should exchange the TX, but as I am in Tenerife, with a decidely "iffy" postal service, and probably have the only 2.4 gig RC on the island at present, it could be a problem. However, my son will be on holiday here at the end of August, so I will get him to take the TX to his local model shop in Stoke on Trent. I trust Ripmax will still honour the exchange service in September. At present I can't get into the Ripmax web site to ask them.
