Hamish i work for myself as a spark and have always made sure the installations are to part p and reg standard as for 10 sockets as a ringmain, you should only have one socket off the ring at any one point (spur) ,but like you say may houses still have radial circuits in them and i still goto loads that are like that but this is now not correct for the regs at this time and should never be wired like that, if you ask any spark they will tell you this. of course you can still have a spur i.e one DS of any one point along the ringmain circuit 16mm swa (about 60amps) may seem over the top but you can never tell what customers might put into the sockets i.e each socket could have 13amp thought it this could be heaters etc as you have pointed out the fuse is there to protect the cable but also the whole installation as well you could put in a 6mm cable and it will run fine until you want your chargers going and a heater then your radio etc this can soon add up and with it being used as a work shop power tools soon come into it as well Rob Edited By Robert Bromwich on 28/12/2009 17:11:07

Eric the socket circuit should be in 2.5mm T&E min as keith said he has 10 sockets in the circuit this shouldnt be done as a spur circuit and if he has then the electrican that comes to check it should / will have to rewire the circuit correctly any socket that is added to any circuit will be min 2.5mm cable this is for spurs or ringmains so might as well get it right first time rob Edited By Robert Bromwich on 28/12/2009 16:17:04

Hi Keith As am an electrical engineer please be very careful with electric . Please call a qualifed electrican as all work should have a cerfitcate for it. but this is how it should be done the 10 sockets should be in a ringmain to a small DB connected to a 30amp MCB in your shed, this DB can also power your lighting using a 6amp MCB (MCB's as long as you have a RCD on the main incoming otherwise RCBO's) then from the house this should be a 16mm swa cable underground or overhead with a wire (this is of course if your shed is away from the house) If it is connected to your house then a 16mm T&E will be fine this then goes to your mains DB which has a 50/60a MCD/RCBO or if you have no more space then a new small DB will be fitted which is connected to you meter using meter tails etc like i said at the top of my post please be very careful and what i have said is a guide other electricans may do / include different things as i have not seen the installation whatever you do please have this checked before you put power onto this circuit ? Hi all have just completed Tonys hawker typhoon and just wondered if there is anyone that has pictures of the different paint schemes for this i have looked on other forums many moons ago and found someone on there that posted about 20 or 30 different ones but cant find it anymore is there someone that can help me many thxs in advance rob
-
Hi all Whats happening is when the retracts are down and i switch the Tx then Rx on the retracts try to go up ,if model is on the ground they try but of course they cant/dont , only when i lift model of the ground do they go up then come back down even though switch is not touched and it's the same the other way round if there up and i switch TX then Rx on they come down then go back up ? is this normal !! when everything is switched on everything works fine i am using the dx7 with ar7000 rx with ubec as it's 4cell rob Edited By Robert Bromwich on 06/12/2009 22:18:49

Erfolg have a look here Futaba 2.4g RX to me looks like they are 4v to 6v but need to see which is yours and make sure rob
-
Tim just buy a ps3 sorted
-
TBH ive never had any problems with any servos i have put onto the AR7000 go for 6v servos there quicker anyway one thing to mention the 2.4g Rx have a voltage of 3.5v to 9.6v so if you are going to ever use a sep Rx battery i wouldnt get anything less then 6v and a good quailty one as well as you dont want any brownout Rob Edited By Robert Bromwich on 06/12/2009 07:08:53

unbalanced Ali spinner
Robert Bromwich replied to Robert Bromwich's topic in General Electric Flight Chat
Thanks Timbo for the help i will have a look at it ,but at the moment i have just gone with the plastic cone and added the extra weight in (hate doin that) but i havent maidened it yet so not bothered for the test flight . beacause of the extra weight which in all is about 360g i have a good starting point for my next plan using A123 cells which hopefully will take all, if not most of the weight out many thanks rob -
Ross all i buy for the larger models are the digital spekrum standard servos DS821 at only £14 each they are very good / reliable from here Robotbirds rob

Hi all Have a good one hope someone can help me with i have just completed Tonys Nijhuis Typhoon and to get the weight forward thought i would put a 4in Ali spinner on it anyway got everything on and connected the batterys only to find that there was loads on vibration which damaged the motor mount So after fixing and adding some strength to the mount thought i would try it without the cone on the front and everything was fine nice and straight with loads of power. So back on went the cone and on went the power but the same again loads of vibration !! so to my point i thought these Ali spinners were balanced ? if they are then mine isnt Is there a way on balancing these ? otherwise going to have to add weight and use the plastic cone Rob
