  1. Hi ND Just one more thing when you try the Ailreons i found they didnt more up and down very well, the ailreons moved near the body but didnt more on the wingtips (epp to flexable) so what i did was cut an inch, left an inch and so on along the Ailreons hinges this made them hinge more then flex   hope this helps Rob P.S THESE ARE GREAT FUN AND YOU WILL WANT TO HAVE ONE READY TO FLY ALL THE TIME
  2. hi ND I have one of the hacker eep mustangs i have a cheap £6 bell motor 1570kv with 25amp esc using 8x6 prop on only 2s 800 to 1000mah batterys and flys great. Have tried it on 3s and didnt find it much faster also can get cheap 2s 1000mah lipos for about £8 each from somewhere like here Maxpoly website and motor/esc for only £10 from here BRC Rob
  3. Hi Matt Using JR6210 on that one and on that transmitter hasnt got remote gain for gyro thing is i just cant understand as worked ok before  I will check though gain, linkage etc again see if its any of them you never know,i will let you know one way or the other also will try my DX7 tx as can control gyro gain on that one thanks for your help Rob
  4. HI Matt I have the Teebee HH gyro that came with heli(not sure of the model) i purchased heli about 4 years ago (got into fixed wing but have come back to have another go) The tail linkage is spot on and the servo moves the correct way as i said i didnt crash it (on ground) tail rotors just stopped spinning and heli was flying great just before i landed it? Thing is i'm just learning to fly around can hover tail and nose in so i will not be doing any 3D  i just want to get it flying again, dont want to spend £100 on GY401 (i know these are one of the best) but for me at the moment that is another full metal heli !!. Lucky for me i have another 2 Trexs an XL and a Phoenix full metal one so im ok for now but this one flew the best for me as it was abit slower! I have also just tried the metal 11T cog on the old tail drive gear so i thought this would be ok as this is now a 11T top and 22T bottom so same as before but still the same thing is happening! Rob
  5. I always use a Ubec for anything more then 3s. This gives you the option to use digital servos etc and of course you are not then using the esc's bec so will run cooler. This is something that i do but there are new esc's that can cope with it now also for the price of them i dont think its worth taking the chance of overheating the esc Rob
  6. HI DarrelI Havent got that plane but do fly electric planes and have a smith miniplane which is 6.2Ibs AUW using a Himodel R4310 on 6s giving me 777watts - 35amps on a 11x7 prop this motor will take from 5s to 9s powering models from 6.6Ibs to 14.3Ibs so should be plenty for your 7Ib to 8Ib Zero I also use 4 batterys in it with are 1700mah 20c 3s ,this was only way a could get C of G correct and get battery out easy Hope this help Rob
  7. HI Shaun If you are using a UBEC you need to cut both of the red wires from esc's as you are using UBEC to power RX,servos. Yes solder UBEC to the + and - from your battery the other question i'm not sure of and would love to know myself Rob
  8. Out this morning with trex 450 and ripmax spitfire  but my phoenix heli in garage awaiting repair
  9. Hi Neil if you send me your email address i will send you the instructions in PDF format Rob
  10. Well got two flights in this morning before the fog came down now cant see 50 feet infront on me hopefully will clear up later and can get out again Rob
  11. Well guys I've just started with i.c engines ,did have one running in a plane about 20 years ago but only lasted about 30 secs before it hit the ground ,i was only 15 at the time and older brother had a car with one in and we could never get it running right so i have never bothered with them and have stayed electric only up till now. The one i have now is a SC40 in a richmodel se5a. At the start couldn't get it going was very tight over the top of the crank then my brother said about taking the head off to have a look, so we did then screwed it back on what a difference nice and easy and away it went first time, only thing we could think was wrong is they must have tighten it down to much. since then i can start it first time every time with a chicken stick and it has now got 20 flights of 10 Min's on it and has never cut out once(touch wood) Also i have a TT39 in a Raptor 30v2 that I'm just tuning up was hard to get it running first time as got it second hand (was new) and its been in garage for about 2years, have had 2 tanks though it but seems to be running ok so will have to wait and see Rob
  12. Hi Another question i hope someone can help me with is the Tail drive gear for the Trex 450 x, i was flying it the otherday and luckly i had just landed it, when i tried to take off  again i found that the tail wasnt turning i then noticed that the top plastic tail pulley gear had come lose a common fault with these heli's i found out I purchased an upgrade metal tail gear but when i put it on the tail would'nt hold, i then checked the number of teeth on each and found that the first one has 11T on top and 22T on bottom and the upgrade has 25T on bottom so if im correct this will make the tail spin slower ! i have looked around and cant find the correct sized tail pulley even the Align part is now 11T x 25T and dont do the part no that is in manual As this heli was one of the first trex's to come out it has the slow 2800kv motor on it i thought if i upgrade the motor to the faster 3500kv so like the XL and SE version's then the tail should hold shouldnt it ?? as the tail will be spinning faster again The main gears are the same as XL,SE versions i.e top large gear is 150T and autogyro gear is 106T so it should work could someone please help to confirm this as i dont want to payout for a new motor if it still is'nt going to work many thanks for you help Rob
  13. Hi All I have two Align trex 450 helicopters one is the X version the other the XL, the problem im having is getting the batterys for them as they changed the design of the heli to ccpm on the SE version onwards The batterys i have for them are Align's own which are 1800mah 3cell 12c there size is 30 x 19 x 100 at only 118g Any new batterys i get have to be 22mm in height at most and 30mm wide otherwise i will not have enough to fix the battery down to and it will not fit into front of heli I do have a full metal trex with ccpm which i fly but these 2 are get for practicing new moves as both are very stable in flight I've had alook around but can only find Align 2.1a 3cell ones that are to big and heavy as they are for newer ccpm versions if possible i would like to get the same batterys any help would be great Rob
  14. HI Myron very close with 3 phase explanation but just as it says there are 3 single phases (you said 2) in there Its easy, mains voltage is AC 230v (50hz) so every 50th of a second the voltage goes upto 230v then drops down to -230v this is why its called  Alternating Current (AC !) on a 3-phase system this happens 3 times in a second but at different times in that 50th of a second. Of course then there are 3 power cables all giving out 230v these are Brown,Grey,Black and Neutral Blue not forgeting Earth ! yes you are right about the USA bring 60hz but there voltage is only 110v Rob
  15. David Go electric as Timbo says you will not be sorry Just on way out to the field,im learning to fly heli's can hover but just getting the hang of forward flight it's more thrilling then flying new plane well at the moment anyway Rob
  16. Hi Timbo and Terry Thanks for your help i will try the iron way first but as both of you say i think it surgery time well give me something else to do on these long windy summer evenings   Rob
  17. Well done Andy, glad to here planes in one piece What plane have you got ? as looking around for one for brother Rob Oh and keep on practicing
  18. Hi all I have just been given an i.c plane from a good friend who has given up because of ill health I have checked the plane over and have found the covering from around the front near the engine bay and bottom of plane has started to come off, looking closer at it looks like the balsa and ply is wet and covered in fuel If i take the covering off is there anyway to get a new covering i.e solarfilm etc to stick 'will it stick' if not is there anyway around this ? Thanks robert
  19. Hi Not sure if Timbo noticed this but you say  'The TX battery was at 6v too' . that's seems very low even 9V is lower then i would use on my Dx7 ,most Tx's warn you when battery is at 9V to charge them back up they should be around the high 10v to 11v mark when you first switch it on, first flight of the day Rob
  20. Thats very true never thought of it that way One good thing is i emailed Slec yesterday and i got a reply they are sending me the item out in the post so everything has worked out ok in the end Thanks for all your help Rob
