  1. I have been given some offcuts of vinyl from a friend who has a printing company. I think it is slightly thicker so could be heavier if a lot was used, but this would be very marginal. The colours I was given are an almost perfect match for those on acro wots which came in very handy.

  2. Photo of the con rod in more detail. The engine is fully stripped now and there are now signs of any other damage. The bearings are ok. There is a mark on the bent half of the rod where the crank pin must have hit it. The big end bush was still on the crank pin. Luckily I think this must have stopped the engine immediately so no damage was caused by bits flying around.

  3. This is the offending con rod. I expected to find the piston seized which would put strain on the con rod, but the piston and liner are fine. It's in a puppeteer and was on its second flight when it stopped and threw off both nuts and the prop, I had to land son wind but all is well with the model

  4. Thanks , will give rc Japan a go, I'm not in any hurry but still can't quite understand why it failed in such a catastrophic manner. There is no sign of any other problems but I will renew the bearing while the engine is in bits.

  5. I'm afraid to admit I got too involved helping my son move house today that I did not get my predictions in on time, so I guess I will be propping everybody up. Never mind the only way is up !! Looks like a predictable result unless Alonso can put a spanner in the works. Ferrari look to be starting the season off as they finished from last year.

  6. I am trying to bind an ar 620 and at 6210 together. The 620 is in a fun fighter, the 6210 is on a dolly. I want to use the dolly with rudder control which the fun fighter does not have that way I can control the run down the strip. It must be possible many large models have twin receivers. Both bind independently but not together ?

  7. I would so as kc has suggested, run a longer bolt or threaded rod down as far as you can, thread lock it in place then use nuts to hold the head tight. I think the Irvine engine is prone to this problem we have an old club trainer with an Irvine and most of the head bolts have stripped and been replaced by threaded rods and nuts.

  8. Most of my fourstrokes  have plastic spinners and so far none have been a problem apart from the odd vertical landing. You can ream out the aluminium backplate but I suggest opening up the prop slots with a conventional file as a sanding drum may pick up the soft aluminium.

  9. Hi Andy

I've just finished construction of  an Acro Wot kit and now at the covering stage. Mine is I C powered  with a OS 70, I have electrified a mk 2 that a club member crashed and I rebuilt it as an eperiment, I made the top hatch removable to change batteries it runs on two 3700 3s at which it balances really well. Good luck with yours.
