  1. Well if more people vote like you and I have Erfolg then we could have Tony drawing one up for us!
  2. This sounds too simple and lo-tech but my favourite is various sized and shaped pieces of balsa to which I have glued abrasive paper.  You may think that sand paper is flat when you have it on a sanding block but, no matter what tension you put on the paper, it still isn't flat at the edges.  Glue some onto bits of balsa and you have a nice flat square edge (or whatever shape you want).
  3. Nah!  Have a look at John Bowman's album in the gallery for a pic of a truly gorgeous model.............the Stuka.  Vote, vote vote!
  4. Fantastic pic of a fantastic model, well done.  (Now vote for the Stuka in the 'Pick a Plane 2008' poll, you can't get a better reason than this pic!)
  5. Jon, Sorry if I offended you at all, absolutely no malice intended, just the opposite.  It was just I could see from watching from the sidelines that you may have assumed Timbo was the moderator for the forum. I'm sure Timbo won't have taken offence, maybe it wasn't clear to you but we do have a bit of banter between ourselves throughout the forum (mainly at Myron's expense!) but, all said and done, I have nothing but respect for him or the advice he gives. I didn't see the need for a PM as it wasn't such a big deal. Apologies.
  6. Jon, I get the impression that you think Timbo is on the Modeflying staff, I think we all have had that idea at times! Reality is he is just a leccy flyer with nothing better to do with his time! . Seriously though, David Ashby is the man to ask about forum stuff, Timbo is just a really helpful (and knowledgeable) bloke that visits here occasionally (only around 3121 posts!). Not that Timbo would complain, just thought I would straighten things out!   *MODERATOR EDIT*
  7. Btw David, the link to the 4-Max site is pointing to the wrong place, just takes you back to the same article.
  8. That's good news Jon, was that with standard or express delivery? One thing that has just occurred to me, my comments about the plugs on esc/battery/motor, as I said, I polarise the ones between the battery and esc but don't do that between the motor and esc (they could well be already fitted on the motor, I don't know), there are three leads and if the motor runs the wrong way you swap any two of them over so the plugs/sockets need to be all the same way around.
  9. I reckon Tony has satisfied our need for a British twin engine fighter-bomber with his versions of the Mossie, now let's have something else................STUKA!!!!
  10. I guess it must be market forces then Barry..............maybe it's not been kitted because no-one wants it?!!
  11. We all have our own preferences but I use 4mm gold plated banana plugs between li-po and esc and 3mm between esc and motor.  I use the male side on the + side of the battery, female on the neg, but I use an insulated female bit to cover the positive when not in use   Both sides are fully insulated but they can still short out in your flight box or pocket if you don't fit this (not a good thing!).
  12. I'm looking to buy a B6 myself when I can, it looks good enough to me.  Sound advice re the Wattmeter, essential gear.  Personally I use a DC clampmeter, that is one handy tool, I bought it for working on the car after having seen one in use by an RAC man.  So useful to be able to determine the drain on a cable without having to cut into it.  Not cheap mind (the AC version is but not the DC) but worth it.
  13. Got it now! That seems a good deal, it's slightly more expensive than the ebay store I found but the carriage is cheaper.  By my reckoning it comes to around 40 quid delivered assuming it sneaks through HMRC with no charges added.  You bought through their ebay shop though, was it cheaper like that?  I've realised the PSU is just a laptop unit, that's handy, I've got a spare one here!
  14. Jon, Don't worry, I wasn't doubting the integrity of where you are buying it from!  More worrying however is that url you posted doesn't work!  Did you type it right? The thing is with mail order these days is you have a fair amount of safeguards with Credit Cards/Paypal whatever.  I have very few reservations about international ordering such as this.  If you want to test your nerve you should try what my wife has done, she imports gemstones and stuff for jewellers and has, in the past, sent cheques to addresses in India with no guarantees that these people even exist!  They haven't heard of Credit Cards!  I'm happy to say that, so far, all are genuine and the orders arrive promptly! So chill Jon!
  15. Well the rest of us aren't jealous one little bit of your flying field Chris......................as if!!!!!
  16. Jon/Timbo,  Was the Imax from the Ebay shop that I mentioned in the Imax test thread?  I'd be interested to know when (if) it arrives!
  17. Let's think, which is the most viable economically, a heater for the Flycam or a move to South Africa?  Hmmmm.....................tricky!!!
  18. I forgot to say it has to be electric, but then again it is Tony, although he has strayed to the dirty side on occasions recently!
  19. JU 87 Stuka Consolidated Catalina Fieseler Storch (I would have said Lysander but I've already bought a plan for that!)
  20. Undercarriage Jon, the brittle thing is only really a problem with handlaunched planes.
  21. Also, see if Timbo has sold his Imax charger yet, it would do the job nicely. Hang on a minute, this is the 8th post on an electric flight related thead and Timbo is nowhere to be seen...........................must be sick!
