  1. Hi Paul You've missed Rougham this year, as I did I am afraid.  However, I am surprised at your question considering you are sufficiently computer literate to get this far that you are not aware that you only have to type Rougham into Google and it will do the rest.  Next show is at North Weald I believe, but don't trust me, trust Google!! Regards   Roy
  2. I would still like to try the electric side of things, but no  more Pretty gliders please!!
  3. I don't know how many to one the odds are and it will not matter if I am the one!!
  4. Got one David, you may draw your own conclusions when I say I'll have another one please!!
  5. Yes Piers, I thought I had too, but it was probably last month!
  6. Well, it's my birthday next month, which is when the winner is announced - so you've no chance Malcolm!!
  7. Can't think why I have not entered before, I can always find a place for a new model !! Royb
  8. Thank you John.  Since last November I have made some progress at repairing the canopy and base, but I will have a word with Vortex.
  9. Whatever it is David, Dustin is obviously keeping it to himself!!  Is there a clue there?
  10. Hi David No, my Son in Law has not suggested an alternative, the things he works with are not suitable for a lazy days flying at the field.  However, I will ask him to back up his criticism with action when he returns to the U.K. next month.
  11. I cannot fault what you say Tim, allbeit, if nothing else, through massive inexperience, although I have suffered in my short (nearly 3 yrs) in the sport (is it sport , or leisure?).  I believe I related in a previous thread that I lost a Weston Cougar which developed a mind of its own just as I was on my landing approach. I have framed the transmitter!!
  12. No, he does not fly RC models Tim, he is only responsible for missiles!! His point to me was basically what you have just reiterated, and his question to me followed that trend, namely - there are thousands of different sorts of tatty old electronic gismos out there using this band, are you happy that it's foolproof for your expensive models.
  13. Hallo Tim I heard on the field on Sunday that Futaba are calling in all there 2.4 tx's.  Have no confirmation of this, but as I have said in the past, my very clever relative who is a boffin at BAE does not share your admiration for 2.4. You obviously think it's the bees knees, but in the light of recent developments, are you still as enthusiastic?
  14. Thanks for that information Michael, never had to edit a video, so I would not have come across this shortcoming in PSP, although it handles animations O.K.
  15. Hi Shaun Get friendly with the feature writer, or better still, the Editor!!
  16. Oh dear, looks as if it does not like me pasting in stuff from E's.
  17. <div align="left"> Hi Tim<div align="left">You are going to say I have either got the wrong end of the stick or I am worrying about something that's not going to happen, but the material below originated from my very clever (electronically) Son in Law as a result of my sending him a scale picture of my Fly Cam 1 and some pics.<div align="left">You will see he starts off by expecting me toget the equipment to receive them instantly, and that's when I asked him if he was sure about the frequency.<div align="left">I await your knowledgable comments, on this first discussion, although there is more.<div align="left"><div align="left">Using your video camera, I assumed that you would be watching real time video using a transmitter to radio the pics back. That's much more challenging, and interesting.<div align="left"><div align="left">The 2.4GHz band isn't a 'plane transmitter frequency, it's an unregulated open band for anybody to use for any purpose. It just so happens that some of the r/c makers have moved into it.<div align="left"><div align="left">There's an inherent problem though, because it's open any r/c transmitter (not necessarily model a/c) can come on line at any time using the same channel. You've probably seen the recent upsurge in remote operated stuff on the market, it's everywhere. Computer routers, car remote key fobs, wireless burglar alarms, household mains switches and lamp dimmers. Toys cars and boats, all over the place.<div align="left">There's no regulation. There's supposed to be limits to the tx power levels used, but that's not always respected.
  18.  Hi David I know it's over two weeks since you posted this, but forgive me as I have only just spotted your reference to Windows Movie Player not responding to your efforts to rotate your Fly Cam 2 picture. I didn't think WMP was that sort of prog., but that's maybe because I am a Paint Shop Pro addict, having used it for yonks.  It started out with me as a 1.44 floppy (2 off) installation, so you can tell how long ago that was, and now (I have version 7, which must be getting ancient) it weighs in at 45 MB. My point is (in case you are wondering!!) it happily rotates FC1 pics, and I cannot remember a time when I could not do something outrageous with a photograph with this program. However, I suppose by now you have got used to putting the camera on the right way round!!
  19. Your last paragraph is a trifle ambiguous Flytilbroke!!
  20. No, Alex, you are not top of the heap, in fact you have a long way to go!! I remember, vaguely, building a 'plane (can't tell now what it was,or if it flew, but I remember well it had about a yard of elastic!!) when I was 10 or twelve years old. I am 82 years old and I build ARTF's which I enjoy.  I think at my age I do not have the time to spend months building my dream 'plane which, let's face it,  might never be flown!! I started flying at eighty and had a good friend who repaired or rebuilt after those little glitches that tend to occur.  However, I have never been used to being waited on, so eventually I started doing the odd simple thing, like fastening the tailplane back on etc. From that beginning I recently finished repairing a 'plane I really demolished about a year after I started flying, you know, the fuselage in three pieces, the wing in halves and so on.  I now really enjoy it, but I try not to deliberately make work!!
  21. I am very tempted, but I really dare not join this forum!!
