  1. Does anyone know, or can anyone create, a concise listing of the conventions emplyed by those who draw plans? indeed, is there such a general assumtion that all those who draw plans will use the same conventions? I have built many planes and other things from plans over the years, but this one has me foxed. On a Ben Buckle Elbert Weathers "The Westerner" plan there are various parts/componants/bits that are single diagonal hatched at 45 degrees to the line of the componant, and I cannot work out what it means! Any help appreciated.
  2. I have, over the past 35 years, driven perhaps a million miles, nearly all in those well known Swedish estate cars that can carry largish toy planes. I have had one road traffic accident in that time. Whilst staionary at red trafic lights, I was rammed from behind, sending me into the similar large swedish estate car in front of me. We all got out, exchanged names, addresses, insurance companies etc, the guy behind me seeing little irony in the business card he gave me which said he was a Health and Safety Consultant. His, of course, was the only vehicle that needed repairing. I am still trying to work out the moral of this........ can anyone help?!!!
  3. No one could dislike T N enough to ask him to create a70 - 80" span Lysander. He might like the challenge but that surely is up to him. Without the slow fly devices they have a reputation of only flying like rockets - and you won't get the slow fly devices such as slats and variable incidence tailplane without adding far too much weight. Or is that the challenge?  !  !  Whirlwind is good; but what about a multi with twin booms? Google Sikorsky S 40. Now how would you do that? Or even a Westland Welkin!
  4. I once saw two lumps of superb straight and dense English Oak in the boot of a colleagues car - really impressive quality engineering stuff it was. Thought I might be able to relieve him of them for my boat, but was unable to pursued him as apparantly they were the engine bearers for  Tiger Moth. So on this alone I suggest the kit be donated this way. Thanks Tony Shorrocks
