  1. Hi all, does anyone know any clubs that do this in the sussex/surrey area? I know lots of slope soaring spots, and this also does not seem to mix well with normal power/electric flying down the club! Thanks in advance for any help! Paul
  2. Thank you! There is some food for thought there. Paul
  3. Hi, Yes, it allows temporary change of use for the land i.e. to operate a club from agricultural land for 28 days per year. I am interested if there is a legal way to extend this without seeking planning permission and permenant change of use. I assume most flying clubs that operate, for example, every week from rented land will have this issue, or a way around it? Thanks, Paul
  4. Hi all, Does anyone know ways around (or exceptions to) the 28 days rule. Therefore, allowing a club to use the same site for more than 28 days per year? The land in question is currently agricultural, with only the one club operating from it currently every other week. Ideally would like to be able to legally use it more. Many thanks for any help, Paul
  5. Hi, are there any flyers here from Sussex/surrey area, as it would be nice to know?   I have flown a couple of times at ashdown forest, devils dyke, firle beacon... just getting into slope soarers, and love it!!   Thx
  6. I hope someone is able to offer me their opinions.    Although my main passion is building models for other people (I have scratch built many planes to a high standard now, up to 50cc 3D type models).    I am looking for something to throw in the car and that can handle typical english weather. A 'hack' that can handle a bit of wind etc... I am looking for something to do my B test with, and have passed my A test some time ago.   I learnt to fly on a Wot 4, and remember this was very good, and tough!!   I wonder whether flying a very lightly loaded 'fun fly' type model, such as the Cougar 2000 or Evolution models fusion is counter productive? Since these planes are so light, and reluctant to stall, do you forget how to fly other models that will drop a wing etc... if you slow them down to much? I would like to continue improving my landing skills, but hear that these type of planes will just descent vertically if there is even a moderate wind?   I have also heard that becuase these type of planes do not like to stall, they are difficult to spin and perform other manouvres that require a stalled condition, snap rolls, 3D etc..?   Another option is the acromaster (multiplex), can someone who has flown one of these let me know if they can handle a moderate wind?   Thx
  7. It does seem steep for a kit!!   If you fancied building from a plan, I built one from a Guiseppe Ghisleri plan, 1.20 4str. Fantastic!   There is a build thread and plan on RcGroups (not mine), I hope I am allowed to post a link to this:   http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=521278   Paul

  10. It is a shame how HH have priced this. It is basically the Pulse XT 40, with a shoulder wing, but over £50 more expensive!!   It is more expensive than the Piper Pawnee, which is a bigger model (80" WS), and this has far more scale detailing i.e. moulded canopy, cockpit interior, wing struts, flaps...   If only it were more reasonably priced, I am sure there would be more of these flying.   The Graupner Caravelle is a similar planform, but without open cockpit, trike undercarriage etc... also has a 2-piece wing. Also much cheaper!!
  11. These may be of use:  http://www.eft-inc.com/models/ff/smoothie.htm http://www.atomicworkshop.co.uk/catalog/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=66&products_id=182 The top one ships to the UK as well.  Paul
