  1. The penny hadn't dropped that Jeti were so late to the party to be honest. Can't blame the open source competition for benchmarking against Multiplex functionality. I'm not sure where the boundaries of IP lie and have no view, one way or other on IP matters. It's a shame Multiplex failed to build on what they already knew when they developed the new Profi, but sadly that's all water under the bridge ;-(
  2. Nice bit of understatement 😉
  3. Thanks Dick. John mentioned Jeti Studio and I did download and install it on this computer, however hadn't got as far as discovering the emulator - which I now have. It looks dead handy.
  4. I'll see how I go then Trevor. Maybe a mind map is the sort of thing to shoot for. As you say, it's to build up a mental picture of the functionality. For me, it's to both help with learning fluency, and also to have a source of reference on the wall for the less well used functions. On one piece of paper.
  5. Thanks PeterF - it was a long shot. I'll probably make my own - a sort of mind map. I was alerted to Harry by the vendor, John. I've been chomping my way through his excellent material with the hope of hitting the ground running when it arrives. I'll take a look at the RCG thread too.
  6. Whilst I wait patiently for the delivery of my Jeti I've spent some time reading the instructions that I've downloaded and watching some of Harry's excellent videos. I'm very much a visual learner and like to see structure and the big picture. When I was learning the Multiplex Profi 4000 some time ago, I found the attached flowchart very helpful. Has anybody found anything similar for Jeti, please? 4k_flowchart_v1.pdf
  7. Many thanks Peter, that looks brilliant. G.
  8. The truth is out there.......... Probably won't really know until I try it.
  9. Thanks John, that would have taken some working out from first principles.
  10. Thanks Peter. It seems probable, by the look of it. I'll see what else comes back however a call to Nexus and a "test purchase" would seem to be on the cards.
  11. I've ordered a couple of REX receivers for IC and electric however those little 4 channel jobbies seem ideal for simpler models, as you allude. I don't understand what the statement on the Nexus site "Telemetry: Jeti Basic telemetry (not EX, showing values on the JETI box / emulation)" means. Any idea, please? What I'd like, ideally, is receiver battery voltage from aileron/elevator gliders and LiPo voltage from aileron (y-lead), elevator, motor, electric models. Edited to add, I realise the Rx would be unable to provide LiPo voltage without a sensor - however not sure if it'd be sensor compatible.
  12. Might as well order your Wildthing now, then. For those days when the wind wants to rip your arm out of your shoulder 😉 https://www.balsacabin.co.uk/product-category/model-aircraft-kits/soar-ahead-sailplanes/
  13. Slope is brilliant, enjoy it. As others have alluded, slope sites are often public access. That brings with it negotiated landowner agreements for modelling activity. The point of saying this is that sometimes there are specific no-propeller requirements. I'm not sure what sort of configuration the Easyglider will be built in, and what the rules are at your local sites, but probably best to establish what's allowed if thinking of a motor glider.
  14. It's done. Order placed with Jetstream. Spent an hour on the phone with John and went in to some considerable detail on certain aspects. A very knowledgeable chap. I didn't go for a special edition in the end as they didn't come with my first choice receivers. I decided to get my hands on the equipment and then work out which upgrades I wanted. The thinking being that some things on OTX require logic switches, whereas on Multiplex it's just built in. So I'd only be guessing what I needed to accomplish the functionality I require with Jeti. Many thanks for all help thus far 😉
  15. Getting down to the nitty gritty now. The special edition DS12 versions that come with metal gimbals from the DS16 would probably be my first choice as whilst pricey at a first look, come with an aluminium case, and 9 channel receiver as well as the upgraded gimbals and buttons. One thing I've not been able to establish from reading the various instruction manuals is whether these special edition DS12's have the facility to rotate the gimbal in the case. The DS16 manual has says how to rotate the gimbals, and the DS12 manual says it's not possible. However what's not clear is whether this is a limitation of the plastic gimbal or the case. For those that have special editions, any thoughts please?
  16. Thanks for that. I'd noticed the lack of sliders, however have never ever used them anyway. Interesting about the idea of modifying the knobs - a quick search returned 3D files to print some up!
  17. Thanks for that. All seem to have had positive experiences from their vendors of choice. I had a brief rummage on the internet earlier and stock availability is, as you say, a factor. I'll have a proper look tomorrow and work out next steps, as I am going for it. The tip on the 4channel receivers is handy!
  18. Might be worth expanding on the sentence "home grown kits using all of the latest technology available ? " as it's somewhat open to interpretation. I recently bought one of your traditional kits, and knew exactly what I was getting. Is what you're asking about now different? Cheers Graham
  19. Thanks all for comments. I see there are several vendors. Is there a "main dealer" as such, that offers servicing, for example?
  20. Also 3 clubs, all BMFA affiliated. Soaring club £12. Choice of good slopes. Around an hour and a quarter away on average. I'm a very occasional flier there so can't say I'm engaged with any events that may be going on. No facilities, as is usual for slope sites and attend so infrequently I can't say I know other members. Flat field club #1 is just over 10 mins from home. Strip is a 20m by 25m rectangle in a farmers field, zero comfort facilities. Some wind directions quite challenging. IC flying is Weds afternoon and Sat / Sun, with quiet electric having additional access 3 evenings a week in the summer. No official social functions, some indoor flying in the winter. Around 30 members, around £30. Good friendly club and as there are no facilities, those that come, come to fly. Flat field club #2 is about 35 minutes from home and flying 7 days a week, with IC curfew Sunday after 2 pm. Strip 120m by 11m aligned almost exactly E/W in a rented 4.5 Ha field. Container type site cabin with cooker and heater, with table and chairs outside for tea drinking, plus tables for models. Toilet, although I've never ventured in 😉 Members just over 30, I believe. I'm quite a new member and have met around half. I know there have been events in the past, and the only one since I joined was the number of models in the air record attempt - which had a good turnout. Subs are £100. I tend to go here most, due to the greater opportunity to fly in the week, as I'm retired. Another good friendly club.
  21. Thanks @Dickw and Peter, I'll have a look at what Harry has to say. I did hold a Jeti Tx in my hand at Weston - can't remember the model but t was one of the DS style. We created a model and put some mixers in and it seemed straightforward.
  22. Thanks Ron. I did look long and hard at the X20 offerings and can see they have a lot going for them.
