  1. Well we got a fly in the 30mph winds the phantom (leicester models) was a handful as the guess on the c of g was a bit off. The blizzard on the other hand flew superbly I guess this will be one very very popular model
  2. Sorry I was on about the F16 - Here is the flycam one view on a recent (ish) outing.
  3. Well we should be enjoying some fine tranquil summer weather by now but alas the new found 'monsoon summer' seems to linger like an unwanted smell. Still there's no rain planned for tonight so we're off to our site www.nlmfc.org for some fun. hopefully I'll maiden my blizzard and my mate Steve is planning to test his 'electrified' phantom, the OPS 61 is replaced with a large unlabelled electric motor and enough lipos to power a concept car.
  4. Hi, I purchsed the F16 (4S 8xl version) from Scott last year and all I can say is that it wows everyone who sees it, not because it looks nice (its brush painted) but because of the sound and speed, the 3 blade XF fan has a unique noise thats both quiet and jet like. Over the years I've flown many EDF planes but this is still my favourite hand launcher. My employer blocks YOUTUBE but if you go to our youtube site nlmfc (North Leeds Model Flying Club) there's a few videos of it in action. Trsut me you can't fail to be pleased with this plane (on 4s !)
  5. Well i got my blizzard finished ready for maiden hopefully on Friday if the monsoons abate, there's a build review on our club site www.nlmfc.org if anyones interested
  6. You can buy the blue 39mm folding prop spinners separately for about £5, I scoured the internet yesterday and found some at modelmaniacs, the power train from my now 'above the noise limit due to poor motor mount acromaster' (AXI 2820/12) fit perfectly and with a 11x6 folding prop on 4s should give the little bird some sparkle. although it only arrived yesterday I couldn't help getting stuck into the instructions, the density of the elapor is something else, the tailplances are almost glass like in appearance and density, can't wait to thrash this around .......
  7. Hi, I fly an electric tug its a graupner Taxi 2400 with an AXI 5345/16 on 12S lipos so its a bit overkill for what you want but for big models its just the job, if your interested in finding out more about towing or where to put the tow release then take a look at the scale soaring website The video of my tug a cuple of weeks ago is in this thread http://www.modelflying.co.uk/forum/forummessages/mps/dt/4/UTN/4056/V/6/SP/
  8. Eric, you are absolutely correct and I have enjoyed towing such planes just like this at Sandhays, however the air brake servo on the Venus had stripped a gear so I adopted a high AOA approach instead, the wind helped me reach some decent height in no time.
  9. Although the wind was quite strong it didn't stop us having an afternoon of towing, here's my electric Tug with a 1/4 scale Ventus
  10. Hi, I'm still using the 'fiddly' flycam one and try to mount it downward pointing on the glider so you can keep the Tug in shot, if you had seen the rain cloud coming you would understand why the landing was a bit furious, its a real pity as I'm starting to get into towing and need plenty of practice, I bought a renschler vario a while back from bmfa classifieds and fitted it to the Tug to check height restrictions, its a superb piece of kit and the RX voltage feedback is very reassuring, I'm just pondering what next to build, apparently the mpx blizzards are out ........ oh my ........ another one to sneak in the garage after my wife's gone to bed !!!!!
  11. We found a few hours between the showers on Satuday night for a spot of glider towing, my Electric Taxi 2400 performed awesomely towing up a 14lb Pat Teakle Vega
  12. And what a great price, with flaps it took off in 3 paces and landed on the spot, looks like Hangar 9 have a winner on their hands, I don't mind doing a review for you if you can send me the kit and other bits  Well you can't knock someone for trying and my last efforts were good in idea but poor in pictures but I've learned since then .......
  13. We had a great day out at Tockwith (Near york) at the monthly electric Meet hosted by the brighouse club, there were lots of great models on show: Tthe flyfly hawk, E-flite Ariliner, Sf Lear Jet, all performed very well on the Tarmac, the hawk could pass for a model costing 10 times as much on a low pass with retracts up ..... Ewan's superb albatross performs on both Turbine and EDF setup, here it is with a schubler fan, Neu motor on 8S. A lot of interest was shown in the new Hangar 9 Pawnee, everyone loves Piper crop sprayer and hangar 9 seem to had done a good job for around £125, it flew great on the e-flite 46 with 4S Anyone near york on the second sunday of the month with a few hours to spend will not be disappointed, for more infomration see the brighouse club website or BMFA
