  1. WOW thats looks a nice model please put my name into the draw
  2. i have always struggled to mill foam / balsa to a specific depth, the abundanceof foam models with poor excuses for ply parts (expecially undercarriages) has meant I've had to hack into the foam to add reinforcing plates, well no more after trawling google I found various ideas and pulled the attached together, 15mm pvc pipe (DIY store) and some corex (for sale sign) is all you need... oh and a dremel ...
  3. i'm hoping to get down to Sandhays (lincolnshire) for their 3 day aero tow, hoping to test out my 3.5KW electrice Tug with some nice gliders. Sandhays events are always great and this year there are a number of overseas visitors with some nice european gliders ...  Lets hope the weather holds and the 30mph winds don't materialise
  4. it helps but if you use the small sanding drum it doesn't matter
  5. some copy shops will scan, mirror and reprint the plan for you, take a look in the yellow pages. The only other way I've done it was to wet the drawing with cooking oil, that show the plan through but you need to cover it with cling film to build on !!!!!!!
  6. I have always been struggling to beef up undercarriages in foam models, I find that the ply that is used is often very poor and the glue (if any) has a similar strength to Pritt Stick. After trawling the internet for ideas I found a couple of sites that talked about using the drum sander on the dremel tool and set about having a go.... The build was simple (15 minutes) using a 10cm square piece of corex sign (house sale board) and a 50mm piece of 15mm poly pipe, the pictures are self explanatory, this has transformed some of my foam models from taking a sharp intake of breath every landing to having confidence in the structure. 15 minutes and your ready to go, it doesn't look pretty but works a treat The 'wobbly' dremel extension fits snug into the 15mm poly pipe Foam milled to correct depth for reinforcing plate Plate fitted snug for grass capable retracts ..... Hope some of you find this as useful as I did ...
  7. That will look nice in my hangar, hope I'm lucky (theres' always a first)
  8. The wingspan is approx 12 feet, the model is owned by Ray Rogers from Doncaster
  9. Well the weather up north wasn't so good but a few of us escaped the rain and went to the electric flyin at Sandhays in Lincolnshire, there were some super models including an impressive Lancaster that we managed to fly in (sort of) synch with a ripmax spitfire.
  10. I always install links on the outside of my models, where I know I will be charging at the field I install 2 links so I can charge without dismantling the model, I know there are people out there who will go .... how do you balance your packs etc I do this after flying and having used lipos for years have found that unless you push them all the time the necessity to balance on average is once every 4-5 charges. The picture is of my Taxi 2400 that uses 12S 10,000 packs the connectors are 6.5mm to suit the current draw. If your using 4mm bullets then the brown rawl plugs fit perfectly !
  11. The last 2 weekend have been blowout for us yarkshire lads so we spent the weekend building, our club seems to be drifting away from Arf's into 'proper building' with the Ben Buckle kits becoming more and more popular, hopefully our new found skill set will set us up for a Nijuis project. Hopefully the brownie points (and DIY) gaine from the terrible weather will enable a right session this wekeend. Before the bad weather set in we had some great fun with the Taxi2400 electric glider tug towing a beautiful K8 to find large amounts of sink but hey ho we tried ..... roll on summer ......
  12. Quote "Some of the Hong Kong Shops are now advertising in the UK mags, I've ordered lots of motors, ESC's and Lipo's from a particular shop without fault, in fact some of the Lipo's have proven to have better performance that those costing double !" I have used several 'mystery branded motors' all perform good for me, there are many action shots of them on out youtube site (search for NLMFC) I use a very potent setup in my wot 4 for towing
