My penorth... I would strongly recommend aliphatic glue. Yes, it does take time to set, but this also gives me time to spot my mistakes. White wood glue is OK, except where you have to sand it. It goes rubbery, and resists sandpaper, so I find that trying to sand off excess glue dribbles results in removal of the surrounding wood while the white glue residue juts wobbles back and forth. The aliphatic glue sets harder, and sands off tidily. For mending the odd crack or weak joint then the more fluid super-phatic glue is good. Plummet
