  1. Never been brave enough to build from a plan always taken the safer option of a kit - but Chantilly Lace looks great so with a bit of advice and guidance I'd definitely give it a shot - PM for me !
  2. If you don't have any film backing Tony, I've found that " Protect-A-Plan " as available from Balsa Cabin has always worked well. It's very similar to the film backing  although it's not free !!    Regards
  3. Thanks Garry I've decided to build a Flair Cub as suggested by Ernie and a couple of members from the local club. After reading some other threads on this site I think a simulater would be a good idea to get the thumbs working again, and as you say - hopefully it will be like riding a bike !! Thanks again for the encouragement Vernon
  4. Hi Ernie, I hadn't considered the Flair kit but I'll look at that option... I guess if it's a semi scale  trainer it may be a little more forgiving in the air which may be helpful when it's finished ! Thanks for the suggestion, Vernon
  5. Thanks Eric, Sorry about the other posting, I noticed the title of the other forum and wondered if  it was more suitable for my question, however I'll heed your advice.. don't want to upset anybody ! I have thought about another Unowot but fancied a different challenge, would a Cub be that more difficult to fly ?
  6. Can anybody give me some advice on which Piper Cub Kit would be best.. I,m thinking either the SIG or Goldberg options ? I've built various kits in the past although all relatively simple, the last being a Unowot by Chris Foss but that was a while ago ! I do enjoy the 'build' part of the hobby as much, if not more than, the flying, but will want something fairly straight forward and forgiving when it takes to the air as i haven't flown for over 5 years !! Any advice on these, or other options gratefully received
  7.  Rather a returning modeller than a complete newbie but certainly new to the forum. I first took up the hobby back in the 70's with various Keilkraft and Veron Gliders / Rubber powered kits, always longing to afford RC equipment and an engine, but alas not on my pocket money !! I used to watch in envy as the local RC Club flew on my school playing field on weekends, and remember thinking.. one day.. In the late 90's my dream became a reality when I built a "Unowot" and joined the local club.. I was helped no end, and after much patience by club trainers I finally passed my 'A' . Unfortunately due to personal circumstances I was unable to continue with the hobby ,but never forgot the 'buzz' that I got when my model was first airborne and the pleasure this great hobby can bring. So here we are back again.. third time lucky and all that !!  I'm hoping to put together another kit over the next few months which hopefully will get the 'buzz' back, I've been looking about for a likely candidate and quite fancy a "Cub", hopefully this will be an interesting build and not too tricky to fly ! Am I being a bit ambitious as I haven't flown for 6 years ? If suitable would the Goldberg or SIG option be best ? P.S. I do intend to go back to the local club ! Any advice greatfully received.. Vernon.
