  1. Not a lot of building lately other than flat pack furniture but I did manage a half hour or so in the workroom.   I've now joined the fuse sides, added the engine and servo bearers, the tank bay and the formers.
  2. Thanks to Pat for a copy of the original instructions, its making life easier. I've started on the fuselage sides as per instructions. I was suprised at how quickly things started taking shape...
  3. Hi this is my first build blog so please tell me what you think.   OK, that said, I was given a Ben Buckle Galahad for my birthday 2 months ago and I've just got around to starting the build.   On inspecitng the contents of the box I was a little suprised at the brevity of the instructions. I've got used to small booklets with the build broken down into many stages and lots of photos. The Galahad comes with 2 sheets of A4 and only 2 1/2 sides are devoted to build instructions, also there's not a single photo. Probably the reason why I've waited so long before starting .   All the measurements are imperial so if you only understand metric and can't fathom fractions then this is not the kit for you. Fortunately (I think) I'm old enough to remember the days before decimilisation.   I've started the build, as instructed, by laying out the fuselage sides and doing a dry fit. I'll hopefully get around to some glue this weekend.   The power is going to come from an OS max 15FP which I've been running in on a test bed.   This is what the finished plane should look like although I'll probably go for a different colour scheme.
  4. Many thanks for all the replies and the explanations of dihedral. As usual the forum comes up trumps again!   Now am I AlanC or Alan C? I've heard of split personality disorders, I think I'm suffering one now.
  5. Hi, I'm just starting to build a Ben Buckle Galahad and the plans indicate 5" dihedral at the wing tips. For those not familiar with the plane it has no ailerons.   I know what dihedral is but what does it do? Has anyone a simple explanation please? Also, what would be the effect if I were to reduce the amount of dihedral? Just curious as I intend to build to plan.
  6. Has anyone else noticed that the new spitfire from Tony has a 72" wingspan and not 70" as described in the magazine special and the plan?
  7. Hi kc, Elwin Sapcote is the designer  PM is on its way to you, many thanks.
  8. A.A.  I'm looking for the build notes to accompany the plan of the Sopwith Dolphin that were in the March 87 issue.  Yes I've tried ebay but no success so far.
  9. Hi, can anyone help me?  I'm trying to locate a back issue of Radio Modeller from March 1987.
  10. My dream build is the rarely modelled Sopwith Dolphin.  The plans are currently with Belair to get a quote for all the wood.    Anyone any suggestions for covering materials to give a realistic WW1 look and feel?
  11. Looks like June is a good issue but as I have only just received the May issue, and there is no sign of the June issue falling onto the mat, I will have to your word for it.  I've written to the subscriber email address, hopefully they will get things sorted soon but I'm not holding my breath.
  12. The standard of photos submitted so far is excellent, It almost puts me off having a go!  I feel sorry for the judges, this will be a tough one to decide.
