Any DS-12 users in here please? If so, is there anything not to like that you've come across?

I've done plenty of reading and don't think there are any "gotchas" so this is a sort of last chance catcher.

It'd be a replacement for my Radiomaster TX16S MKII that's on OpenTx. I love it's functionality and the hand feel is OK, however am looking for something a bit more robust with greater prospects for dependability long term reliability. I have a Multiplex Cockpit SX9 that's beautiful to my taste and  I wish I could love more, however a bit lacking in the programming flexibility department.

The models I'll be flying with it will be IC and  electric  up to 6 foot span or so and 4 servo wing slope soarers. All models the TX16S copes with admirably. It's a beginner F3A model (SebArt MythoS) that has catalysed the will to change.

I know it'll be  a chunk of cash, and receivers are not "lucky bag" items. Plus the more esoteric programming functionality has to be purchased on a pick and mix basis. That's all OK with me.

The DS14 is quite a bit heavier and I don't need the extra functionality. I was chatting to a user of a 14/16 (not sure which) I met recently and apart from the weight, he commented the aluminium chassis made it feel very cold in the hand for winter flying. I wouldn't have worked that out at my computer desk!

I have the carbon version and love it .Not the cheapest but rock solid up to now .Harry Curzen has a YouTube channel devoted to how to use Jeti which is great

This might be of interest to some of you. I bought a couple of old Laser 75's at a swap-meet earlier this year. Both have decent compression so thought I would give them a refurb.

I originally intended to convert one to a marine unit as a marine four-stroke sounds really good . However the cost of some brass rod of the diameter needed was rich so shelved the idea for now. I wanted brass as our local lake is brackish and it kills alloy in short order . I might have a go later making a water jacket from alloy and use a heat exchanger so not to cause damage to engine .

Anyway with engines all cleaned and ready to re-assemble using new bearings i found i had to make a replacement PTFE gudgeon pin pad as one mysteriously disappeared ? Piston rings seemed ok so after removing and cleaning the grooves were re-fitted .

I decided to brighten them up by anodising some of the casings . The results can be  seen below . All parts were done in the same bath at the same time but obviously the different alloys take up the dye at different rates .

Im currently looking for a couple of laser mufflers if anyone has a couple lying around . The ones i have have been battered and dented so a couple of fresher ones would be nice .  If you have anything let me know but no silly prices please.

I might have an original small one kicking around I will have a look if you are interested postage costs only

Motor cycle jumper needs to hit the ramp at 40mph to clear the three busses.

If he were to accelerate along a a conveyor that was going 20mph in the other direction he would have to hit 60 to clear. Were the conveyor going 20 toward the busses he would only need to reach 20 indicated or over shoot.

I was at a show when a motor cycle jumper went way to far over 10 busses missed his landing ramp and came down very heavy, some how he stayed on until the bike slowed down and fell over with him holding his nether parts.:classic_blink:

Just so happened my nephew who had knocked himself silly crashing his Gocart earlier that day and ended up in the hospital bed next to the jumper. Flattest, blackest set of man bits you ever saw ha said.:classic_ohmy:

Yes because the motorbike is driven by its wheels

Plane on a conveyour belt  by Mythbusters avaiable on Youtube

Your first assumption is wrong LHF. Plane does not care if on static or moving surface, it moves forward and lifts off in the normal way.

Quite right the wheels just rotate at double speed .See mithbusters on youtube
