  2. I've had pupils with a trainer on a buddy lead and they've struggled! As mentioned previously different people can take different lengths of time to grab the basic flying skills, to others it's second nature and it's picked up real quick. Does anybody in your club have a trainer on a buddy lead he could try first? If the trainer is easy peasy then the purchase of a Wot 4 could be the way to go. But, I think that diving straight in at the deep end could end up expensive (write-off) as well as shattering the pilots confidence, and think of the possibility of injury (remote I know), but the possibility is there.  My personal way of thinking is take it a step at a time, get him on a trainer with a buddy lead before purchasing the Wot, if all goes well, get down your local model shop with your money in hand for that Wot 4.
  3. Neilly, you're posting a link to a "thumbnail" small image, which is why it's looking blurred when viewed larger.Do you have a larger sized picture that you could link to?
  4. Are you still about Scruffy? I was wondering how the Lanc is coming on, I assume you've had a bit of a break.
  5. Well it took a bit of faffing but I got there, let's try again....

  12. I've had the same problem with my I.C. World Models Midget Mustang, a "non greaser" landing if the grass is a bit rough results in the spats punching a hole in the underside of the wing as the spats "spring" back.I'd love to hear if any of the more experienced guys on this forum have a method for preventing this....
  13. Interesting stuff Ady, so was the flight with the 4s pack?
  14. Thanks guys, I'll try to get to WH Smiths to see if they've got any.
  15. I've been using Sellotape's "Diamond Tape" for a few years now and I've grown to love it.It doesn't yellow or crack with age and seems more transparent than regular Sellotape. However, I've just ran out of it and can't find any in the local shops.  Do any of you knowledgeable people know if it's been replaced by another product? Or do any of you guys use a similar product?  Cheers Andy Mc
  16. Wow BEB, that was quick.I've just dug it out and that's the one alright, I didn't dig that far back as I didn't think it was that long ago! You're a star mate, many thanks.
  17. I remember reading in RCME a while back about a handy little pocket Anemometer to measure wind speed and temperature.Well I've been going through my pile of back issues and I'll be damned if I can find the article (it must be there somewhere as I never throw anything away! lol).  What's the chance of somebody remembering which issue it was.  Or.... what do you guys recommend as a wind measuring gadget? Cheers.

  21. There's always some "special tail" aircraft about, the RAF aren't too prolific when it comes to custom paint jobs but there's been some nice ones over the years. They normally use the excuse of Squadron Anniversaries, or other commemoritive dates. I think the Americans tend to be a bit more colourful with their markings.
  22. That sounds a brilliant idea! But I should imagine it would be a nightmare to compile, there's so many variables, prop size, fuel, optimum RPM, plug and weight, just to name a few.
